Description
Anyway, The Incident At Victoria Falls is lovely… while The Leading Lady is just complete and utter ridiculous rubbish. Not in the least Lee’s fault but … well… I just really don’t know what on earth the producers and writers thought they were doing. xDI am not sure what I did here… I think some weird mix of my own Holmes and Lee. xD

THE BONE STRUCTURE. I feel like James Mortimer in my admirations. Gosh, you never cease to amaze me with your work.

Hahahah, I'm glad I can surprise you every now and then. xD I was trying to draw Christopher Lee somehow but was limited due to the style... so somehow it ended up looking like this, and it's not too bad, right?

Woohoo! I completely forgot about those two films! Ehm, maybe it's director's cut fault? There are two versions of both 2-part films, longer and shorter. Maybe you saw the short version which I too found slightly silly ...

I saw the short version of Victoria incident at first but then found out about the series thing... And then of course watched the long versions.... But I'm afraid it didn't improve my impression of the leading lady ones. I think it made it worse. Maybe I should watch the short version of that, that would get rid of all unnecessary plot parts and maybe cut short on the .... Romance, too. XD

Yeah, that was awkward!
... What do you think about Watson?! Patrick Macnee too died a couple of days ago ...

Hm.... Watson is always a bit hard to properly assess.... I am for one a Holmes girl and have little connection to Watson, to be honest. As such, I thought he was treated well enough in these adaptations. He wasn't made to be ridiculed all the time, and his own actions were perfectly human.
Any adaptation that doesn't make the friendship of Holmes and Watson to an extend focus of the whole experience... will add Watson merely because he is the one telling us about Holmes in the canon and cannot be simply taken out of the story. That's a lot of the adaptations. Watson really doesn't do anything anywhere except for being around and making an odd comment here and there, so that Holmes doesn't need to direct his communication to unknown characters...

... or to an audience directly - basically, he's a bit of a prop for the story teller - and then a story teller himself! WE may know Holmes pretty well, but Watson is still a bit of an enigma and judging by the various series, still allows much room for interpretation. And hey, who knows what he'll do in the future (maybe even get his own TV series or remarkable superpowers of induction, lol ) ~ thank goodness the original canon is pretty much here to stay!

Yes, so it seems. In a way , we know a lot about Holmes, but hardly anything about Watson. Apart from of course, always being conveniently at the right time and spot to be involved in one of Holmes cases. Obviously, he had to be otherwise he would not be able to write a story of his experience. XD
since he is this prop, as you called it nicely, it is hard to give him a proper role that strays from this initial canon purpose. Hence many don't. Except for BBC Sherlock, Watson has got a lot more of his own character spot, or guy ritchies Sherlock Holmes, in which Watson also rises to be his own character. While, even Granada, let's Watson remain be the bystander.... It's not bad though. I like all the watsons. .... I like Watson generally more than Holmes in those adaptations, it's harder to get him wrong, I suppose. Holmes is much easier to mishandle.

Awesome! He looks lovely! I liked The Incident at Victoria Falls, and like the first half of The Leading Lady, but after when they had Holmes seem to really actually like her a lot and want a son too I was like "oh my gosh what the crap is this!?"

XD yeah. It rather bothered me that they deviated so far from the source material... Ignoring the whole romance, it's just that even Irene should be at least 50 here, which makes it a bit hard to get children. ... No no... Don't get me started. XD I could write paragraphs about the silliness of this production and its countless flaws. XD
well, at least, as said, the Victoria falls incident was great! XD

lol! Seriously. I never even thought of that. If she's at that age then, then it means she was like 17 when they first met which makes no sense! D: I remember when we watched it together as a family the one guy says "every one knows she's his mistress" about Holmes and Adler, and then directly after that the shot switches to bare, intertwined legs in bed and my mom was like "WHAT!?!?!?! NO! THAT IS NOT OKAY!!!!!!" and we were all full fledged freaking out and then it turned out to be two other people and I was like "not cool, editor, not cool!" I will never forget that moment, not as long as I live! :/

I was so shocked too! XD hahahha, what a moment!
but yeah, a lot of mindless things in there, especially the mistress comment. Holmes did something wrong if everybody knows she's his mistress. Oh well, oh well, I could go on forever. XD
