*will move to scrap later*Update 11/24: Added pen nib reference in bottom. I'm not sure if I prepared the nibs correctly... I had more trouble with the maru nib, so I don't know if it's because that nib is less flexible, or if I just didn't wash the coating off well enough. Left to right, then top to bottom:
Maru pen in brown india ink
Maru pen in Blick's Black Cat
G pen in brown india ink
G pen in Blick's Black Cat
I really like the flexibility of the G pen nib. I know the photo's not very clear, but the nib allows thin and thick lines, and thick to thin transitions within the same continuous line, depending on pressure. The maru pen on the other hand, allows for really thin lines. Even with pressure, the line is still pretty thin and consistent. Also, testing the nibs showed me how watery and thinned out Dr. PH Martin's Bombay India ink seems compared to Blick's Black Cat ink. So in terms of ink behavior, I think I might prefer Black Cat.

Getting closer and closer to painting.... maybe. I like to have color/ink sample cards to reference whenever I'm painting/inking. These consist of the inks *LadyDorian recently gave me plus the last two from a few months back when I was thinking of trying pen nibs (and still haven't gotten to it -_-"). From left to right, all on hot press:
Daler Rowney F.W. Acrylic ink Turquoise
Daler Rowney F.W. Acrylic ink Process Cyan
Liquitex Professional Acrylic ink Cerulean Blue Hue
Daler Rowney F.W. Pearlescent Acrylic ink Autumn Gold (really sparkly though it doesn't show here)
Dr. Ph. Martin's Radiant Concentrated Watercolor 8A Turquoise Blue
Dr. Ph. Martin's Radiant Concentrated Watercolor 51D Ice Blue
Dr. Ph. Martin's Bombay India ink Blue
Rapidograph Universal Ink
Blick's Black Cat waterproof India ink
Dr. Ph. Martin's Bombay India ink Brown
Dick Blick's Black Cat seems to be much darker and opaque than the Rapidograph ink. And now I finally understand the potency of liquid watercolors—and why they come in such small bottles (a little bit of color goes a long way with these). The Turquoise Blue is that dark at the top because of a single drop, and this was after dilution.
