Ha ha. 
I brought my dog to watch a local outdoor show (he's a mixvbeed so not allowed to be shown). I thought it would bore him, but it did not even if we sat still just chatting with a breeder who showed a first timer dog while we watched the ring. It changed my view of shows. I had always pitied the dogs, but Ragge was super excited to be there and despite hours of being still he was totally exhausted when we came home. So apart the showing and rushing to ringside this is very much my my experience.
A side note: I have always heard about the snobbism of breeders of pedigree dogs. My dog is a mix of miniature schnauzer and jack russell terrier and every miniature schnauzer breeder I've met so far has showed a lot of interest in him and been very complimentary, totally contrary of what I keep hearing about showdog breeders. Maybe it's my personallity playing a part, but I've seen none of the snobbism talked about.

yeah people actually arn't very snobby (there are rivalries) but that's different then snobbishness to just random people and yeah my dogs just sit in the crate all day that isnt the 10 minutes of showing and they are always exhausted.
