Every Spring the coots come through on their way north. Not many; I usually see about eight or nine, scattered among the various ponds. This is my first year getting a look at them with my new camera, and we have a particular brazen specimen! About 95% of these photos, taken on Thursday May 1st and Saturday May 3rd, and all of the videos linked below are of him. I watched him chase other coots, back down several geese, go foraging for food right by several that were nesting, and come within five feet of where I sat!Here are some video links:

Yeah, that little coot didn't seem at all put off by the nesting geese.

Thanks! I got lucky; this little guy was one brazen coot; that goose was on her nest, and no more than five or six feet from me to boot! Usually the ones I see are WAY more shy!
