It's nice to see how some people at least simply portray him as the fun-loving, relaxed guy he is (most of the time), not as Kaiba's sex slave in Dog suite or - even worse - angsty, emo object of parental abuse (you don't want to know...)

I acknowledge his and violent past and difficult family situation and try to take them into account when I picture him (FA, FF, Doujinshi), but
1) I think that he's really turned a corner in that department (with the help of his friends and passion Duel Monsters). He'll be alright, I'm convinced of it.
2) some people simply overdo it, thus drifting into the zone of unbelievable and distasteful >.<

i see jou-kun as how you see him, too and lilanie treats him like a younger brother, a man not a dog or seto's you-know-what. i'm also happy when jou-kun changed his ways from being addicted to fights to being overwhelmed in card games, thanks to yugi-kun and the others. he's better as a duelist than a gangster guy.

for me, he's one of the best (if not the best) in YGO 'coz he's a great example of a person changing for the better and a person who never gives up despite being humiliated by other people
