I feel that when you get down to their base personalities Dororo and Zoruru isn't that different from eachother. Or they were pretty similar characters once upon a time.They've just been shaped differently by the events in their lives.
One little "What if" idea I have is what if Zeroro ended up being the cyborg instead. How would that have affected him? Would turn out somewhat similar to Zoruru or not?
I dare the canon to prove me wrong! (It's okay canon, I'm sure that would be interesting too! Just have more Zoruru, ktnxbye.)

Canon is the official story as told in manga/anime/books/movies.
Meaning written by or officially endorced by the creator.
For Keroro that means the manga, anime and movies.
