I put things on the internet in hopes that the people who share in my interests can help me learn new skills and improve upon the ones that I already have, not so I can fight with people about ownership over the things I’ve created. So with that in mind, I’m only gonna say this nicely one more time…KEEP YOUR DIRTY MITTS OFF MY STUFF BEFORE I TAKE AN ANTI-CREEP STICK TO YOUR SKULL!!!
Oh, and just so no one asks, you see that little symbol in the corner? That’s my new logo, which will be on all my DA artworks/stories from now on. If you ever see any of my art on a site without it, or if you see it under an artist using any penname other then WingsofMorphius, you have my permission to massacre the offending party, preferably after telling me about it.
PS; Please no comments about how I should be flattered that people are stealing from me. Trust me when I say that’s the last thing a victim of theft wants to hear…

But I heard about people swiping artwork around here & passing them off as theirs. In fact, at least a couple on my watch list had that happen to them.

So I've been told..
Recently, I made a commission to one of the artists on my watch list that will feature three of the female characters from the show. (To be honest, I've only seen a handful of eps, and I know precious little apart from what I've read on other websites.)
Won't go into detail here,though..at least on a public forum, anyway..

you'll want to make it into a watermark sort-of-thing. otherwise make it in every single layer of your pics that people can't easily get it out.

^^ i havne't had theft issues as of yet, so i'm not stamping mine with a logo. only if i notice my art on someone else's page will i start. i tried one....didn't work out very well.... ><;

I've only had a few cases of art theft myself... to be honest, tohugh, story theft hurts a lot more. But I love doing fanworks too much to stop.

story theft? dang.... those're hard to trace. you get similar story lines going, and usually people think then that the plot is just similar; not that it's a possible theft....

This one wasn't just kinda similar, it was outright theft. The girl copied and pasted my story word for word to another site and claimed to have written it on her own.

I already took care of it. I sent the site a link to my story, with the date of publication included, and the link to the link to the copied story, which was obviously published after mine. I think the girl got kicked off the site for plagerism.

No, I still have the plot. I write out all my plotlines completely before I start a story. What I lost was the motivation to finish the story. I tried working on it after it was stolen but somehow it always just made me feel sick to my stomach.

to me, it means i've done something good, and some idiot can't do it themselves, so they satisfy it by saying they did it.

Everyone says that to me, but it's a lot different then you'd imagine to be the victim of story theft. I put so much of myself into my writing, spend hours thinking about twists in my plot, work hard at keeping my stories believable and original, and seeing someone else taking credit for all that work just made me feel physically ill. I spent das walking around shaking ike a leaf after that, and it took me a while before I could write anything again, and as mch as I tried to continue with that stolen story, every time I opened it up to work on it, I just ended up staring blankly at the screen. It was like something had died in me or something, and it's one of the worst feelings I've ever had, and the irritation and indignance of art theft is nothing compared to that.

well, that sounds like how i felt when my grammy got sick four years ago. she died a year later-ish... i couldn't stop crying until a few months after she was told she was better, and then she died a few months later. when she died, i didn't do much crying, but only because i realized she was going to die after the doctors told her she was going to be fine. they always do that for elderly people. she went back to the hospital about two months later, and got hooked up to life preserving things. my mom was the one who got to decide whether or not grammy was to be pulled off life support. when she did, i was just glad we wouldn't have to go through it again. ...until my grandma and grandpa die..... but they're really healthy.
have you ever had a mother die? my mom was nearly broken when grammy died. she only just could pull the plug because grammy had told her it was time for her to go.

It's hard to lose a loved one. My parents and I have talked seriously about stuff like that on more then on occasion, and my dad's parents are both really bad off now (Nona has cancer and Nono has something like Parkinson's Disease)so we're all praying for the best and preparing for the worst.

its a pain in the ass isn't it? some of my friends works have been stolen by those jackasses. also, what might help is when you let people borrow some of your art stuff, it might be better to only lend it to those you can really trust. I'm just suggesting though, I wanna get back at them too.
