As aforementioned, I'll have two versions of the next few photos because the old-looking ones go better with the story, but the color ones are cooler.

...But, as it goes, there is an exception to every exception. The Mermaids of Alope could leave the Spring under one additional circumstance: As long as a human, male or female of any age, was offered as a replacement for as long as the Mermaid was away from the Spring, a Mermaid could leave Alope and go on land; but only in her Mer form. However, if the exchange were to take place on a Summer Solstice, the Mermaid could leave the Spring on her human legs and remain so all through the year until the next Summer Solstice, when she would spend the day back in her Mer form, and return the following day to her legs. The only way to replace a Mermaid indefinitely would be for the human to drink the water of Alope, and then sign his or her name on Alope's Rock in the blood of the Mermaid he or she was intending to replace....
