Description
In 2057 is Earth overpopulated and her recources depleted.A rich but small group of scientists and Programmers starts to Terraform Mars.
While goverments fight for the last oil reserves these people set up a base of operations on the dark side of the moon.
And from there they send robots with advanced AI to nearby asteroids and crash them into the red planet, the resulting dust in the atmosfere kickstarts massive global warming.
With the first habitats underway the scientists make a gas that will funtion as a Ozon layer, with that released into the atmosphere the first colonists are able to walk around only wearing breathing masks for oxygen.
After some years the ice on the poles melts and the first clouds of water are formed.
Only now the group releases this photo and sends it back to the people of earth, who never knew this was happening.
Image made with GIMP, ENJOY!

Great painting! How did you make the surface of Mars? Textures I presume? I really love the story you wrote with it too. Mars also looks very realistic, I envy you for being able to make it look like that. Do you have any advice for me regarding my latest painting Three Planets? Because I personally find that that it slightly lacks realism.

Well, to begin, I didn't paint anything, I used verious brushes and cloning tools to make the texture I used on the planet.
If you really want a similar looking planet I strongly recomend this tutorial, but I warn you it's a long and difficult task to make a good texture.

There are some very interesting colours at work here, and I like the story in the description
And I must say, your starfield is fantastic. How did you create it? The detail is phenomenal, and there are just the right amount of them.

Thanks! I'm glad you like it!
The starfield is the second most easy part of the scene, this one is made of 7 individual layers, some are bright and some look very far away. [link] this is a short tutorial I wrote about it.
