Little is actually known about Eri, the only being who can truly say anything for certain is Eri’s vessel. Most of the following information has been gathered from research done by the leading expert in Etheryx. He prefers to remain anonymous, but the following documents have been handed over to the public for their own viewing.

Eri and her Vessel’s Past

Physical Notes
When Eri is in her full physical form and not hiding within her vessel, she is always surrounded by mist which gives her a ghostly and ethereal appearance. The thickness and intensity of the mist varies depending on how safe she feels in an area, so the amount of mist should reflect how positive or negative her emotions are. Eri resides in a distant mountain forest, she is the only large predator in her own territory and is only comfortable being near her Vessel, otherwise she avoids all other contact with living creatures. She is 6’4” at the shoulder, meaning that she is rather small for an Etheryx. She is quite lithe and extremely strong, most of her physical strength comes from her legs. Eri is NEVER to be drawn without her collar unless I have explicitly asked you not to.

Personality
Eri is short tempered and rather flighty. She prefers solitude and can grow quickly aggressive when touched or approached too quickly. Eri is cautious of most beings and will not trust anyone completely unless her Vessel trusts them as well. While she does have a soft and affectionate side, she only allows her Vessel to witness this side of her. Eri is unconditionally loyal and loving to her Vessel, and would sooner die than leave their side. She does not feel strong positive emotions towards most other people unless she considers them part of her “pack” in which case she can be nearly as loyal to them as she is to her Vessel, although they will always take top priority in her mind. When in her own physical form, Eri prefers to spend her time wandering the forest, basking in the sunlight, and trying her luck at climbing trees (which she is not entirely confident in doing given her size). Eri is short tempered and quick to snarl when she disagrees with something. She becomes restless when she is in enclosed spaces, even during Intangible Possession Eri hates being in doors. Despite her temper, Eri is rarely physically violent unless someone threatens her Vessel. Her displays of anger are more times than most expressed in harsh growling and snarling. In contrast to all of this, Eri is very wise. She understands the way the world works and knows where she stands within it. She learned the law of the Wild long ago, and is for the most part, unafraid of the unknown. Due to the background of her species, she fears humans and is quickly uneasy in their presence, of course discluding her Vessel. She is highly adaptable to most environments, and although she may become uneasy in small spaces, or crowded areas, it only takes her a maximum of half an hour before she adjusts to it and learns her own ways to cope.

Abilities
Intangible Possession: The ability to possess others or inhabit their body by fading into it, allowing the user to hide. Limitations include only being able to do this with the victim’s permission, the user can be exorcised, and the user is only able to do this with one’s Vessel.

Mind Link: The ability to link minds with one’s Vessel, allowing the two to share thoughts, memories, and emotions at will. Limitations include only being able to do this within a certain distance of each other, it is emotionally traxing, and can cause the dominant soul within Intangible Possession to speak their thoughts allowed involuntarily when performing this ability.

Sensory Sharing: The ability to share senses or inputs with between one and their Vessel. Limitations include only being able to do this within a certain distance with each other, the user and Vessel can become dependant on each other’s senses, and the user may become physically exhausted after an extended use that their body isn’t used to.

Hyper Sight: The user is able to see with enhanced clarity/detail, distance, and color. Limitations include only being able to see a certain distance before getting a severe headache, and cannot detect invisible beings.

Illusion Awareness: The ability to see through both optical and mental illusions. Limitations include having to be channeling this ability.

Boundary Perception: The user is aware of any and all boundaries around them including metaphysical, dimensional, and emotional boundaries. Limitations include being unable to bypass most of these boundaries, being unaware of their own emotional boundaries, and the user is only aware of boundaries within a certain distance from themself.

Telepathic Communication: The user is able to form a psionic communication line with another being, allowing them to have conversations with others using their minds. Limitatons include being unable to read the minds of others (the user can have conversations but otherwise cannot read their minds), the user must be within a certain distance of the other(s) in order for it to work, it is limited to a maximum of five people at a time, and if the recipient no longer wants to communicate the user can be blocked out.

Hullo hullo everyone! I’m proud to introduce the newest addition to my range of OC’s, Eri! But she isn’t just any other OC, Eri is my spiritsona. What’s a spiritsona you ask? Well a spiritsona can mean a variety of things from person to person, but in short they represent both the spiritual side of someone as well as their own personification. Within both her lore and design, Eri possesses a lot of symbolism related to myself. Anyone wanna try their luck at guessing what certain aspects represent? No cheating by looking it up! Below I’ll list a few more obvious bits of symbolism and to those who want to try it out just comment below on any of them you think you might know the answer to and I’ll let you know if you got it right or not.

Of course there is a lot more symbolism laced into her but I felt these were the easiest to decipher. Anyway on a more serious note, I’ve not been handling life very well as of late. I’ve gotten my insomnia back again, depression and anxiety are in full swing, and in general I’m pretty emotionally unstable. So creating Eri, and her existence in general, is extremely important to me. She represents a lot of the negativity I’ve struggled with for my entire life, and in a way she is the beast that can destroy it. She protects me from all of it and a metaphorical sense. If you couldn’t guess or just did read any of her lore, I represent her Vessel. I put a lot of love and care into her lore, background, species, and design. Now of course none of it is perfect, and there are a lot of things I wish I had done better in regards to her colors/design, but she will grow and change with me and I’m confident that one day I’ll be able to portray her design as elegantly as I see her in my mind. I wrote the documents from the perspective of a researcher for fun, and also for some reason it helped me organize my thoughts better that way. The scientist himself is not especially important to Eri or her story as he merely exists as a way to document Etheryx. Before anyone asks, no you are not allowed to make your own Etheryx. They are a species I don’t intend on sharing with the world, their lore is something that is precious to me and although I may not have explained it as in depth as I would have liked to, it is still as original as I’m capable of making it. This species isn’t for other people to use, it is for me alone. Maybe one day my mind will change, but until then Eri is a one-off species. I don’t care if you reference the species for your own benefits, but don’t reference her actual design, lore, or background without my explicit written permission. If you have any questions about her design, such as which colors go where, how to draw her key, ect. don’t hesitate to ask as I will draw up as many guides to her design as necessary until it makes sense to you. I understand the reds are hard to see and that her key is difficult to draw so don’t feel bad if you need to ask for my assistance in any of that.
