I'm going to try to re-do as many of my old pictures as I can. Honestly, most of them make me want to hurl. I'll still keep the originals around in my Scraps, but these versions will be dominant in the Gallery.Also, working on this picture made me realize that I should give Snakey exaggerated expressions more often.

I think you get pretty good expressions on Snakey with his red eyes, especially when it's exaggerated like this. It works great!
Boy, it's fun looking at the differences between the old and new versions. The improvement is definitely noticeable.

Heh, it may be fun for you to look at past work, but it's kind of no picnic for me.
After all, you probably didn't do weird things like inbreed your characters, so it'd probably be more fun for you. This is not to say that I despise looking at my old work; it's just that it's not as fun for me. But it is fun to redo a pic and make it better-looking, as I found out with this one.

To be fair if Gar broke his tail then Snakey wouldn't be able to move as well as he can right now since technically Gar's tail bones are Snakey's bones too. So I assumed that his tail wasn't broken.

Heh, no they're not. I have very low self-esteem of most of my old works.
That first version was done in about an hour flat with Sharpie, coloured pencil and crayon. The fact that I used to use children's crayons and upload it here to dA alone makes me want to cringe in disgust.
This is much better because I actually put an extensive amount of time into it. ^^

Well what I'm saying is that you were able to use something like crayons to great effect and I mean that! All this extra detail you have been putting in is a matter of artistic growth and I'm proud of you for that! 
And just like ultimateequilibrium.deviantart… has been saying, you do not have to be so hard on yourself. All the little imperfections and mistakes are what makes an artist/someone become more real and not overly polished and clean. 
That same logic goes for music, trust me... I've been there done that. Beat myself up really hard before. But as time goes by, improvements start happening because I simply loved what I was doing. And it's that drive that keeps us doing the things we love doing.
The old picture for obvious reasons is no masterpiece by any means, but it looks pleasing to the eye, and was made by someone who clearly enjoys creating art. You sir, are one of those people.
From 2012 and onwards I look forward to your works!

That looks like it hurts. Looks like someone needs to contact Knuckles or Silver to get those rocks out and under! And personally, I wouldn't be criticizing your old works. You were even talented back then, but I've noticed that you've come a long way as the years went on.

C'mon man, you don't need to be so hard on yourself! It's not like they're something that you should deeply regret or anything. I mean, just look at the skill level you're at now. You've greatly improved by a very large percent! Rather than feeling disgusted at your old works, just take another look at them; give them and old laugh instead! I understand if you feel like they aren't good. We all have feelings like that about something, but it's nothing that should bug us. I'm just being friendly and honest here, that's all. ^u^
