Description

The morning was crisp, the chilly air nipping at the pony's coat as she coaxed her daughter to her side. The mother had been fortunate that her filly was sent with her to the Southern island, and she couldn't have been any happier. She had said her goodbyes to her mate this morning, nuzzling and kissing her handsome stallion before he left on his own mission to complete. He was much more important in their herd than she was, but Lena was going to make the best of it. She would make something of herself in this new life, not only for her, but for her family.

Smiling with pride, the mare set foot on the beaches of the Eastern Island, staring over the oceans waves. The bridges were permanently opened now, the waves lapping at the path set before them. She had wanted to give themselves a slight head start ahead of the rest of the group returning, especially since it would be Dawne's first time crossing; and if that wasn't worrisome enough, her daughter also had to cross blind, and in times like this, the mother was thankful for the little ribbons around her neck. Slowly, blue eyes looked over the waters, memories flooding in. She remembers three things at the sandy shores of Chevalin: meeting her beloved Kanu for the first time, the death of her first daughter, and finding her current daughter as well. Shaking her thoughts before the one unpleasant memory of the three filled her mind, she bolted ahead, stopping at the mouth of the land bridge.

"Come on, Dawne.!" The mare said with excitement, hoping to fill her daughter with happiness; never again would she have to stay on the dreaded island that was filled with anxiety and terror, and no longer would Lena have to live with her awful memories plaguing her so relentlessly, "Let's go home."

Her filly tilted her head curiously, still standing at the sandy hill where the grass faded into the grains. Smiling at her, Lena slowly walked back up to her, nuzzling her baby's neck gently.

"Home.?" Dawne asked, more confusion in her voice, but she followed her mother trustingly as she felt her ribbon tug slightly. Dawne trusted her as much as Hok'ee had, and the memory pulled at Lena's heart.

"I won't betray your trust, my sweet filly..." the mother thought sadly, leading her filly off the island she deemed Hell many years ago.

"Yes, Dawne," the mare answered her daughter, voice stronger as they set off towards the island that was oh so familiar to the mare, "Home."
