i think i love making family trees? huh

scar is an awful guy in my timeline ('au' is more fitting but semantics) no ifs ands or buts about it. he sees his cubs only as an extension as himself, only caring for them by that measure. chumvi is his favored (and also his eldest next to kula) but was wasn't named heir because scar was so sure he'd have another male cub at some point that would look more like himself. he didn't even get kicked out because he proved himself so loyal to scar, even when he grew more paranoid the longer he ruled.

mtoto, only a little younger than chumvi and kula, proved to be too dumb for scar to acknowledge, along with being too soft. his mother and aunts ingrained the belief of the circle of life in him, too, and defended the elephants from hyenas, unknowingly using his immunity granted by having scar's blood -- scar may not have loved all his children, but as one of HIS, the hyenas couldn't hurt them lest they be exiled if not outright killed. this act of goodness was not soon forgotten so when one elephant had her calf, she named him after her little hero.

his daughters were looked over because he couldn't see much use for them a la misogyny, kovu i was to be his heir but died alongside mosi, nunka was just too pathetic to even consider, and kopa wasn't born until simba came back (vitani and her littermates were born a little before that; nili didn't even wean them before dropping them off with zira's pride)
