Description
"Animal Farm" Pen and Ink 8.5" x 11"This is a promotional flyer I created for a musical version of the George Orwell novel I had directed. Yes "Animal Farm The Musical"...surprisingly it's actually pretty clever.

i read this book at school and i was a little apprehensive, my teacher kept going on about how it was all relevant in the end and we had to work it out. It was amazing! I loved it, I cried so much though.. and i realised how blind i was before reading it! i noticed things everywhere, propaganda inparticular. i saw squealers, and boxers and sheep and realised so much. awesome book, every child should read it.
as for your poster i think it suits it very well! it's a very napoleon-style poster, it really brings him to life. good job!

A musical would be intense! I'd love to see it! And by the way great inking!
The most annoying characters from that novel were the sheep! Grrr...I preferred Napoleon over them.

I read this just a while ago in school- you certainly have Napoleon down.
The contrasts really leave the impact for a poster.

Great poster! Could you tell me more about the performance? I've been wondering for awhile about stage adaptions of Animal Farm, and it's like--whoa!

Thanks. There are a couple of versions out there. The musical version is what we did, and is very clever (It was originally done by the Royal Shakespeare Company I believe) - There is a shorter non musical version that is TERRIBLE.

That's pretty amazing, Dean! 1984 & this one are among my most most beloved books on earth...And I am so sorry that I can not see this musical...Btw, while reading the Animal Farm and yelling at my dog in the same time my cat has attacked me for first and last time - it was just the right moment and it was so conceptual that I actually liked it, inspite of the scars))

Thanks Deni,
Sorry to hear about your pet revolution. Watch the dog and cat carefully...when they start to sing songs of uprise, or rally together other pets in the nieghborhood, that's when you really need to worry. - Another great dystopian political book you might like- Ayn Rand's "Anthem". (Its also about as short as Animal Farm)
