I prefer to think of Deadpool as a heroic villian. If it comes down to the end of the world type stuff, then he usually sides with the heroes. Other than that, all bets are off.
He's probably trying to figure out how to eat his stolen ice cream while keeping the kid back and holding the ice cream.
