Oil on Canvas 20x24Not quite happy with the way the sabers turned out, they are a tough item to paint. But even so I still finished it despite that.
I used the image by JakeMurray's digital rendition of this famous battle.

Uu nice one! Maybe the left hand on Obi Wan is a little bit too short, but I really like how you painted his face and cloak!

I'll agree with the others about the lightsabers. They are more of a close to white colour on the inside, with a very saturated glow emitting from the outside.
Both Vader and Obi Wans hands looks a bit off, too small. Other than that a very good effort for oils.

Haha, now that you point it out the hands look REALLY small. Funny I didn't realize that before.. I'm going to have to revisit this painting after it dries, and fix quite a bit of it.. Thanks for the input..

It's kind of funny how weak that first light-saber duel (Vader v. Obi-Wan in IV) was compared with the last big duel (Anakin/Vader vs. Obi-Wan in III)--the latter being their big parting of ways and the former being their rematch. It's like, "We're both getting too old for this!" Your painting and the image it's based on certainly add an intensity lacking in the original movie!

I agree, but in a way I kinda like the fight scenes without all the CG effects. It just seems more realistic.

I'm normally not a critic, but I think I see your problem with the lightsabers. There's not enough light. When you look at a picture of a lightsaber blade it usually appears as a solid white shaft with a colored glow.

Yeah its just so hard to make it look real with oils. I'm still working on it, trying to let it dry for a couple of weeks then I will rework it a bit, thanks for the comment.

And thanks for taking it so well. The lightsabers may be iffy but the rest of this painting looks pretty darn cool. I don't know if oils come in the bright white color you need, I use accryllics?

I started using acrylics, but they dry to fast. I still use them from time to time, but I'm just going to have to practice more on the coloring for the sabers.. I'm sure I will work it out eventually. Thanks for the comments.
