Personality: Zelpha is an old soul. Her natural temper is very motherly, wanting to care for those that have even less then herself, even sacrificing food rations to the younger cats. Over the years she has developed into a bit of a scatterbrain & can't keep up with everyone else like she once could, but her enthusiasm for living hasn't been quenched yet.

It takes a lot to anger Zelpha. She has grown accustomed to the scenes of aggression on other slaves and herself over the span of her life so she has developed a numbness to it all. Only upon seeing children in danger will she most likely try to do something, otherwise she'll mostly clean up the mess left behind. After the death of her late husband, she tends to stop and stare as other couples, feeling a mixture of coldness, depression, and envy. She carries herself tiredly when she gets this way, less likely to talk and more likely to blindly follow commands, even those given to her from other slaves.

Having been taught many different skills over the years , Zelpha loves working. She can get quite caught up in and forget the world around her. From simple house cleaning, to field work, when her mind is preoccupied she is as her happiest. One of her favorite chores to be given is shopping, when she can marvel at all the handmade goods available.

She holds a small disdain for priests and cats of the temple in general due to an incident where she was attacked by another religion crazed slave. This however hasn't affected her overall belief in the gods.

Brief backstory: Separated from her mother as a newborn, Zelpha has known nothing more then a life of slavery. It can be said she even comes from a long line of slaves, dating back decades. Her first master gave her as a gift to his wife after the drowning of their kitten, to serve as some sort of replacement. During this time she was given the opportunity to learn a few skills, such a sewing, cooking, and pottery. When the couple where able to have another kit though, she was sold to a farmer.

Zelpha would meet her future mate for the first time working in the fields. It would be years before they actually noticed each other in any way other then fellow slaves. Though the work was hard, Zelpha did her best to bare it. Being young and healthy she was driven hard, and treated quite poorly. One day a cat she worked near for a number of years went crazed, attacking her. In the assault he rambled on about religion, sins of all cats, and such things of those nature. Her saving grace was the master beating him back into submission, but not before a chunk of Zelpha's ear was torn clean off.

After that she was sold and bounced around for a few years before ending up being bought by a family who also happened to own another slave by the name of Bossemer. He had worked for the same farmer Zelpha had, and the two started to form a close bond. They would become "married" soon after. After many years together, Bossemer met an untimely fate; executed for suspicion of stealing gold. Hit hard by the loss of her mate, Zelpha didn't even care when she was sold because the family felt they couldn’t trust her either.

At the Moment Zelpha is waiting for a new master to claim her.

Role-play Example: Nothing killed like the heat of a summer mid-afternoon sun. No amount of water, shade, or fanning could fight against it, and when you were a slave, you barely had that to battle the blistering weather with. The only thing one could do while working was to forget they existed. Zelpha in particular had a knack for pretending she was a mud slathered hippo. It was an odd idea for sure, but as she gently used her teeth to pull away at the wheat, her mind drifted towards the Nile. She would imagine gracefully (as much as a hippo could that it) wading into the water, no fear of crocodiles at hand. Her long tail would become a little stump, and her ears would match it in style. Yes, being a hippo would most certainty be a good life indeed. Except, those hippo ears wouldn't be perfect. They would have a notch in one of them, and a painful notch at that. Snapping back to the reality that she wasn't down by the river, instead picking crops for a master she had no choice in choosing, Zelpha wiped at the tear in her ear. Looking as her paw she could see small droplets of blood from the wound that was less then a few days old. She wasn't a hippo. She was a slave cat. A sweaty, marred one at that.
