Well, first it was just a doodle, but I liked how the doodle looked so I decided to color it. I cleaned up the sketch and made a line art for it, and then colored it

Somewhere around two hours on photoshop cs4? I had to get up a lot and do some errands, so I can't tell the time exactly. And it was my grandpa's birthday so we all had a big family dinner while I was working on it.

its really cool. im wondering how something like that starts. with a pre-existing pic, lineart, something? could you shed a little light on the subject? im not the biggest photoshop user.

I started with that sketch. It was just a doodle at first. I liked the idea of it, so I decided to take it further. I made a new layer, lowered the opacity of the doodle, and traced it better, over on a new layer.

ah, okay. i get it now. im used to using adobe flash so i get the whole layer concept. great piee of work.
