Description
I am that thingGlaring from the mirror
When I try to face myself
I am the one
I never can trust
To be alone with
I am that thing
Who can't go out
In public
I am the one
Without rudder, without sail
Without compass, without map
I am that thing
Who just falls and falls
And never sees why
I am the one
Who can't sleep
For fear of dreams
I am that thing
Who listens in the night
For the beating of another heart
I am the one
afraid of the light
but scared of the dark
I am the one
Who never wakes
From nightmares

I like it.
Is there a reason for alternating "I am the one" and "I am the thing"? the later seems more dehumanizing.

Thanks. That was kind of the point, yeah.
It's kind of this psychological dissociation that I have. But more, I just thought it better portrayed that separation of self when you spend too much time alone. How solitude can make you kind of separate from yourself and see yourself as someone else.
