what a nice watercolor. i think watercolor is one of the best mediums to express the earth with becuase it's so simple, and light. it highlights the natural beauty of the world without any gaudiness.
i would love to see a piece like this submitted to our earth day art contest. we're looking for submissions in order to find a logo for our site.
if you're interested the submission details are here

let me know what you think, if you have a second, would love to hear your thoughts. we're launching this contest to raise awareness for earth day 2010, the positive response so far has been overwhelming.
thanks again for posting your work, it's truly beautiful and inspiring.
^_^

For some reason those trees remind me of Bob Ross.

beautiful, simple representation and definitely fantastic for a first. Though they LOOK easy, watercolors aren't...
What I love about the piece are the warm tones coupled with teh cool tones...you've got great contrast as a result as well as a great sense of depth without using too many brush strokes. There's a great sense of height...as if I am walking under the canopy...
The trunks could have benefited from a tiny bit of yellow, but that would really be my only critique and it's more of an opinion. I feel that way because right now I feel the trunks are more in level with the background because they both share a cooler palette. Adding a little bit of warmth would have pulled the trunks a little bit more into the foliage...
Excellent piece, well deserving of merit...Congradulations...^_^

Not bad, indeed! You get good depth using the more watered-down vague colors.
