Wow. The only artwork I've seen all day (or month even) that made me literally stare for more than 10 minutes. So good.

I am so partial towards towards people telling stories with character living in the slums! I just love the type of feel and atmosphere you get from it! And you captured it magnificently here, not to mention your sense of layout design is brilliant!

its just too incredible that 'seemingly' you didnt put ANYTHING particular in this painting except random shaped strokes and yet i can see EVERYTHING thats going on. with it being complex and detailed.
i bow to you.

Me too. The banner really add the right atmosphere to the place, and the color choice is really great as well. wlop really has a great mastery of painting in such a way that your mind fills in the blank spots in the art. Blots of paint become people, smears become clothe, and there's never any doubt what the focus of the piece is. Really wonderful as always.

Gosh, yet again, I'm amazed by your paintings. It just looks so simple, with visible brush strokes, but you can still make out the forms, the curves, the figures and then, suddenly, everything appears to be so detailed and complex!

I can imagine the people celebrating, the slums a dismal, hopeless, place. Yet, even in the hardest of times, they cast their best dyes into strips of cloth, hanging them and stringing them from neighbor to home, and express their thankfulness for another year. Brilliant oranges and reds, fly in the face of the gloom and grey, lifting the spirits to keep going.Β
This is life in the slums.
