Nolan Grayson: (Floats up in the sky) So Mark, how was your first outing with The Guardians of Freedom?

Mark Grayson: It Was Awesome! You should have seen em action dad, it was even better up close than seeing it on the Television!

Nolan: Aaand did you help out at all or were you stuck gawking at them?

Mark: Huh? Oh uh heheh, I did help out, I was just nervous. First time working alongside such big superheroes, I was hoping I wasn't going to screw up.

Nolan: And did you?

Mark: Uh no, not from what Superman told me...god it feels weird to say that.

Nolan: I'll bet. Sorry I couldn't be there, Fury and Cecil wanted to go over the Viltrum Empire's Defenses again for the 50th time and I've been put on probation til they're sure I'm not lying anymore than I already have.

Mark: Yeah I heard about that. (Looks down for a minute before looking back up at Nolan) Dad, why'd you decide to come clean after all these years?

Nolan: (Sighs) It...wasn't easy. For me at least, admiting that this world changed me. After your powers finally showed themselves I realized that the time was coming closer for me to make a choice, betray the people I'd worked with all these years or betray my people who I'd worked with for longer than most of these people had been alive. There's...a few different reasons why I chose the latter. Number one being you and your Mom.

Mark: Really?

Nolan: Yeah, for awhile I just saw her as a means to an end, mate with her and have a viltrumite offspring to see how compatible our species are were chief among them.

Mark: Eww.

Nolan: (Gives Mark a sideways glance)

Mark: (Looks sheepish) Heh, sorry, continue.

Nolan: But as your mom showed me more about how this world worked, it's people, chaotic and self indulging though they may be, I guess I started seeing some potenial in them, but I paid little mind. When she got Pregnant with you I had...thought about going about and finding other women so as to insure there would be more Viltrumites, it's what I would have done on just about any other world. But Something stopped me, I don't know what but I disregarded the idea and stayed loyal. Fastforward a few months and there you were, a perfectly healthy Human-Viltrumite Hybrid, a mix of our two species and the first one too. I was happy, looking back though there were two parts of me that were happy, the Viltrum Warrior and The Father whose son had just been born. When your powers didn't begin to show at first I was beginning to think that maybe humans and viltrumites weren't compatible and the mission was a failure. But watching you grow up, seeing how happy you and your mother were, it...changed me. A lot. So much so that it began to...scare me. I was feeling things I wasn't used to, I had thoughts of betraying the Viltrum Empire and that worried me even more, no one had ever heard of a Viltrumite betraying the empire, it was practically a myth. Then, just 3 months ago, your powers manifested and I knew the time had come to make my choice, I spent an entire week laying awake in bed thinking of what to do, scenarios in my head that could work if I played my cards right but those were slim to none. This world Mark, it's special. It's formed alliances with species from across the galaxy and it's still in it's infant stages, it's fought in massive wars, it's faced cosmic gods my people couldn't hope to face alone and it's still here. It's advanced in such a short amount of time, it's people have abilities capable of rivaling any Viltrumite and is home to several different alien races from world's now gone, one of which being a long time rival of The Viltrum Empire. As I began to think it over, I realized if I attempted to betray the life I made for myself here...I'd be damming not just Me but You too. Possibly depriving you of all this, for an Empire you have no real alligance to. Mark. Your Heritage is built on the bones of countless races The Viltrum Empire destroyed, the Empire is enemies with some of our alien allies here on Earth. If I failed in my mission they'd turn to you as a scape goat and I couldn't let that happen. I may have failed as a member of the Viltrum Empire but I'm not going to fail you.

Mark: So you betrayed the Viltrumites...for me?

Nolan: Yes.

And that's honestly the most I could write up. XD I know this is a Guardians of Freedom based pic but for some reason I had the urge to write a little bit of dialogue between Nolan and Mark after Mark's little outing with the GoF. They fought...something, giant evil robots maybe, not sure yet. But for those who don't know and didn't put the pieces together, Nolan doesn't betray his fellow heroes and fight Mark, he does the opposite. I just wasn't sure what to have Mark say after Nolan's little speech there so...consider it a sneak peak so to speak.

Hopefully I got the characters right. XD
