"Is it weird that I feel like I know you?"

Those words echo in his head and part of him screams at him to say yes, the part of him that wants to keep her safe, at a distance, not anywhere near him, where everything he touches turns to ruin and everyone he loves dies. The selfless part of him that never wants to see anything bad happen to her. It's that selflessness that made him break his promise to her. He desperately wants to say yes. But even through his mask he can feel her touch.

Four years, four agonizing years without her near him, he's not sure how he's even still staying up with how foreign and agonizingly familiar her touch is. It almost breaks him, shatters his heart and soul and yet it feels like a balm, it's a tidal wave, crashing into him and knocking him over into it's waters, surrounding him in it's embrace, familiar waters, it feels like...Home.

He should say yes, push her away, now, while he still can. Keep her away from him, where she'll be safe and sound, never having to worry about whether he'll come back alive again or whether not he'll come home one day and find her dead because some psychopath figured out who he is. It would be better, for the both of them.

It would be the right thing to do.

The smart thing to do.

No one's ever accused Peter Parker of being all that smart.

This is what happens to a man after having watched The MCU Spider-Man movies, finding another pairing to ship the hell out of, only for it to end in semi tragedy and mulling over it for a few days before listening to a TON of After Dark by Mr.Kitty. Specifically Slowed + Reverb versions.

So yeah, a few days ago I and a few my pals over on Discord had a watch party and watched the MCU Spider-Man movies, Homecoming was alright, Far From Home and No Way Home were very good, made me change my opinion on The MCU Spider-Man and his pals. Ironically, despite being a Race Swapped/OC character, Michelle Jones Watson aka MJ is probably now my second favorite love interest for Spider-Man.

I say ironically for a few reasons, one, cause Race Swapped characters tend to be....a whole lot of Miss when it comes applying such a thing to movies these days, there are cases where it's worked out more than the original but this is often few and far between to the point that I think I'd have a better chance of randomly finding Big Foot out in my backyard than I would finding 10 Race swapped characters who are better than the Original.

Second reason being that I've never been a huge MJ Fan. I found her relationship with Peter to be cute in the comics back in the day...we all know how THAT has gone in recent years...and months. Less said about that the better.
But despite finding it cute I've just never really found it all that interesting, It doesn't help that there's really only one version of MJ I really like and yet prefer as being more of a wingman to Peter and that's Spectacular Spider-Man's MJ.

Strangely enough, MCU's MJ or Michelle feels more like how I imagine MJ to be, sure her character needs a bit of ironing out in some places, but she has the qualities I feel suit MJ, she has the smarts to keep up with Peter, the wit to work with his humor and as seen in NWH, the tenderness and love to help ground him and give him what he needs to keep fighting, she's also not afraid to jump in and try and help him when and if she can help it.

Weirdly enough, The MCU, for all its modern tendancies and woke attitude in a lot of things these days, I feel like they managed to make a reinvented character like MJ work. Again, a Rarity.

And lets be honest, she's leagues better than current 616 Mary Jane, if you've been keeping up with THAT storyline. Oof.

But anyway, as for the pic above, just a random idea I got in my head for how I imagine Peter and Michelle could reunite in future Spidey films, if they continue em that is, I've heard Disney is getting deeper and deeper into troubled waters, so we'll see if they'll even be afloat in the next year or two to even continue making any films at all.

But the idea was that like, 4 years have passed since NWH happened and while Peter has seen MJ around here and there, or at least thinks he's seen her in the city below. Often times it's just his own imagination.

Stuff happens, MJ slowly and unintentionally starts to come into Peter's life no matter how hard he tries to keep that from happening, more stuff happens, a scene like from the first Sam Raimi Spider-Man movie happens in which Michelle is cornered by a group of Thugs and Spidey saves the day...er well, rainy night.

And then the scene I made happens, followed by Peter's usual inner conflict...cause boy the guy has a lot of that.

What happens next you ask? That's up to you to decide.

Before anyone asks if this is somehow connected to The Guardian-Verse, I'mma stop ya and say No, this is just a stand alone fanart based around MCU's Spider-Man, currently, no connection to the Guardian-Verse. But who knows, that's liable to change in the future...maybe, we'll see.
