He had been warned. The townsfolk told him not to venture into the dark woods East of the village. Things. Bad things happen in those woods. Heed our warning they had said."Bah, ghost stories told to children but I am no child. I shall venture wheresoever I choose!"
And now, he wished he had heeded their warning even as the branches of the twisted tree wormed deeper into his flesh. And then he noticed screaming. Surely his own his disjointed mind considered but then the wailing spirits of those who had perished before him were all around him. Killed by pride they screeched. Killed by skepticism. Accept it, you are ours now!
