Description
This is a young dancer participating in the Natchez Pow-wow ant the Grand Village of the Natchez Indians. The costumes are wonderful and the dancing interesting to watch. This is a pretty big thing in Natchez every year and I look forward to seeing this year as well.Full view for detail.
Update: I've made a compilation of some of the video I have taken at the Pow-wow in 2007 and 2008. I've posted it on YouTube. Here's the link:

Oh I just looked at your your tube film, it is great. There are not all that many watchers there so I guess it is really a gathering for the people themselves mostly.
I was surprised to see that some seem white..but maybe they have indian ancesters.
That would be wonderful to see something like that when/if I ever visit america again...

They actually had some for sale at this event! Along with pemmican and other authentic Indian foods.
Glad you liked it. I was lucky to capture this guy dancing with the feathers spread out just right.
I wish I could lose the people in the background, though. Maybe I'll do a Photoshop manip on this and stick this guy in a more appropriate setting.

I often have the same opinion when it comes to background stuff like that.
They have a big one in Minnesota every summer it has probably between 20 and 30 drums hundreds of vendors its awesome but I haven't been to on in 3 or 4 years.

Hey Peggi
Thanks so much for sharing the link
I enjoyed watching it. I noticed some of the dancers were not native american... made me smile
I love native american music! One of my most favorite CD's is called Canyon Drums. I have about 20 in my collection and its by far the "best of the best"!

I have taken several videos. If I get the chance over the next day or so, I will post a compilation of them and put the link under this image and note you about it. It's some video from 2007 and 2008. The costumes are incredible.
I'm so glad you like this, Roz and thanks for the comment!

Thanks, Light! I posted this because of a past great feature that you did in your journal about Indians (Nov 25, 2009). I have some great pictures from these pow-wows. I will be uploading a few more shortly.
