I'd thought I'd seen all the kinds of fractals there were to see, but I have to say that this one sticks out in my mind because of the absolutely stunning colors!

Thank you very much, Maggie! I'm so glad you enjoyed it.
I've been working with Apo about 2.5 years. And yes, starting out in Apo can be VERY intimidating. I would suggest you go to and check out the Apo tutorials. This is one of the best ways to learn Apo. I would get one of the basic tutorials if you are not real familiar with the environment. Go look in their gallery and there is a folder labeled Apo Tutorials. Here's the link to that folder: [link]
Here's one for a real beginner that has some of the buttons and screens with explanations. [link]
But, look for any tuts that say Basic or Beginner or Starting with or things along those lines. That should get you acquainted with the environment and how to navigate. Then, go look at some of the tuts for a specific style or design. Then make sure you have the variations, also called plug-ins, mentioned in the tutorial. The plug-ins go into a folder called Plugins in the same directory as the Apo exe file, if you are using Apophysis 7X. Which version are you using?
Try out the tuts and if you have any questions, note me and I'll see what I can do to help you out.

I got it to work for me but this program keeps changing on me. I'm still working on it. I have never gotten the same result twice with this lesson. I must be doing something different. I keep practicing Thank you for all your help.

Be sure to pay attention to the weights and any "post-transform" instructions. Be sure you are working with the post-transform (PX icon on top of Editor window) and not the transform itself. Sometimes, the devil is in the details.

Since the splits-elliptic tutorial is the only one this has happened to me with I am sure it is an inconsistency with my actions. I am using the correct post transform button on the top right area of the editor.

If you'd like, you can note me the params you are having problems with and I can take a look at them and see if I can see what might be going wrong. I promise not to post an image using them. I will play with them and if I can correct the problem, I can note them back to you with an explanation about what I did to fix it. It's just a suggestion. I have helped quite a few people like this.

Thank you so much, Janet! I'm so glad you enjoyed it! You know me and my dull, drab colors.
The Apo Tutorial Fun group on RedBubble is doing really well with getting people to try out these tuts and to play with them and make their images unique. We had a lot of really interesting images submitted. I love learning and tutorials are a great way to do that.

maybe after this weekend when we gain an hour...
hope you are doing well & keeping dry and warm!!!

Thank you so much for your wonderful comment! I really appreciate your continued support of my work! You are too kind! I've looked in your gallery and you have some beautiful pieces in there. I wish I had the talent to do classical painting and drawing. I used to do quite a bit of it when I was younger, but it has been years. Now, I'd like to learn how to use the digital tablet I got at a great price. Do you have experience with digital painting?
