Height: 12 - 14 in
Weight: 30 - 35 lbs
Lifespan: 10 - 12 yrs
Also Called: Mini Pyrenees, Pygmy Shepherd
With the rise in popularity of tiny houses and hobby farming, so rose the need for a compact protector for small flocks.
Enter the Lesser Pyrenean Dog!
This spunky shepherd combines the instinct and know-how of the Great Pyrenees and the size of the Corgi in one fluffy little package.
As a new breed, there is a significant amount of genetic variety present.
While a standard LPD should look like a miniature version of the Great Pyrenees, non-standard traits such as short legs, button ears, and curly coats appear.
Animals with non-standard traits are ineligible for registration.

Lessers are first a foremost a livestock guardian breed. They were bred for the sole purpose of guarding small livestock (ducks, chickens, goats, and small flocks of small sheep) from small predators (predominantly stray dogs or cats and foxes, potentially coyotes if worked in groups).
Their jovial and congenial personalities make them popular choices as working companions, and some dogs may be suited for therapy or service work as well.

So cute! We have owned two Great Pyrenees in the past irl, so I'll definitely be getting me a few of these.
