SHE HAS RETURNED!!!! IN ALL HER NEW AND IMPROVED GLORY!!!! Gone are the days when her old MS Paint-drawn ref. is all I had for her!!! Talk about a glow-up, huh? She is glorious.

She's been completely retconned. I've been wanting to completely redesign everything about her for months. I truly loved this character and what she could be and looking back on her old ref., her old bio and story...I just didn't do this gal justice. Reading the things I wrote about her back then now, she came off as a bitchy, recluse, edgelord without a care in the world about what happens to others, a flat personality, no motives, and a plot-hole riddled backstory and that isn't at all how I wanted her to be. I didn't like that about her because that's not at all how I imagined her to be.

So here we go. A brand new ref., a brand new backstory, and a whole lot more substance to make her into the character I always wanted her to be and that I can now love and enjoy.

  Wisp is quiet by nature. Always has been, likely always will be. She's not shy, just reserved. She prefers to keep her opinions to herself and isn't the most sharing of bots. This makes her come off as cold and off-putting to most at first. She has little trust for strangers and bots she doesn't know very well. Only a select few can win her utmost trust and loyalty, but it is not hard to lose. You learn a lot of things when as an assassin. One of the most important: knowing who you can trust and who you can't, something she learned the hard way. Those she does trust however, she does so unwaveringly and will defend them fiercely.
  This isn't to say that her hard-to-earn trust makes Wisp unwilling to meet new bots, or that she is instantly hostile to them. She just does so more cautiously. She often also struggles with social interaction, having little experience with these things earlier in her life. She often feels awkward in these situations, leading her to try to avoid them all together or to get quickly flustered or irritated when she is faced with them. With those she does form relationships with, she is witty, brutally honest, and thoughtful towards. Though she is still not the most upbeat bot and tends to be pessimistic.
  Despite this, Wisp is a proud femme, though not arrogant. She knows what she is good at and is not afraid to deny or withhold those skills, simple as that. She hates showing weakness or being called out on it, being brought up to believe she never should. It is an assassin's biggest downfall, after all. She is not exactly what one would call patient, but is very hard to get angry. Annoyed, sure, but to truly see her angry is a rare sight.

Abilities:
  Wisp is highly skilled in both hand-to-hand combat as well as a fair array of weapons (though she is most familiar and best with her own). Speed and agility are her strong suit, largely due to her thinner frame, and she uses them to her advantage whenever she is on the battlefield. However her thin frame does not do her any favours in the strength department. She relies heavily on her weapons and using her opponents body weight against them rather than her own strength, with what little she has. This also leaves her more fragile to attacks of brute force. Wisp is also highly trained in stealth as well, being able to sneak and quietly blend into her surroundings with ease.

Bio:
Wisp was originally born soon after the start of the Great War under the name "Noxia" to Brindle, a member of a reclusive order of assassins called Clan Desti, which was led by her mother's older sister Syn. Upon achieving leadership, Syn ruled the Clan with an iron fist, crushing those who opposed her and doing away with traditions upheld for thousands of stellar cycles. Brindle had left the Clan to escape her sister's tyrannical rule, where she met and eventually bonded with Ultra Magnus. Upon hearing that Syn was hunting down deserters and their families, Brindle reluctantly abandoned her mate and returned home, not knowing she was carrying at the time. She gave birth to Noxia not long after her return, but was too fearful to attempt leaving again. She never told her daughter the indentity of her father.
When Noxia was about 7, Brindle was killed, presumably while on a mission. Syn was quick to take the young femme under her wing to groom her to be her successor. Luckily for Noxia, however, Syn did not have the time or care to train her herself, and she was placed under the mentor-ship of an older Master Assassin from the Clan named Misericorde. Misericorde trained Noxia as per Syn's instructions, but often went behind Syn's back to instill the old traditions and beliefs into her young apprentice. Under her tutelage, Noxia became one of the finest assassins in the Clan. Despite Syn believing she had created the perfect heir, Noxia's faith in her aunt had decreased as she grew, and nearly non-existent by the time she had reached the rank of Master Assassin (a member of the Clan who has completed their training in full). She just had to keep up the act until her aunt finally relinquished her power to her.
  Noxia's trust and thinning loyalty was finally shattered when she overheard Syn proudly admit to one of her more loyal followers that she had been the one to kill Brindle, claiming that she had gotten in the way of her goals. Not only that, but she also voiced her disappointment at what Noxia had become, having found out about Misericorde's secret lessons and tales about the glory of the Clan's old ways, and that she might have to get rid of her as well before she becomes an even bigger problem. The only reason she didn't come out of the shadows and attack her aunt right then and there was because she knew a losing fight when she saw one. She was enraged, but she wasn't too stupid to realize that drawing her weapon against Syn would be a death sentence.
  Unsure of what to do, she told all of this to her former mentor. Misericorde instructed her to run, take on a new name, and that she would cover for her. Though she feared what might happen if she left her behind, she knew she had no other choice. She got off world, taking the first ship she could find to a bigger citadel and working odd mercenary and assassin jobs before she raised enough money to buy her own ship. She eventually landed on Earth, where she donned the new name "Wisp" and sought to begin her new life.

Trivia:
She chose the new name "Wisp" based on speculation from the locals of western Europe, where she landed and hid out on Earth, that the many glowing lights on her body and her optics were will-o'-the-wisps, a creature of folklore, often thought to be spirits of the dead.

The glowing areas on her body glow more than the average bot's. Some areas that glow do not do so all the time, and can instead can be made to do so at will, as seen on her ref. sheet. (As you may not have guessed, I have a thing about making my characters bioluminescent )

Wisp's mouth cannot move much or make very expressive faces due the plates on her cheeks. Instead, her emotions are usually visible through the movement of her antennae and optics. (I've always wanted to make a character that has to emote with something other than their mouth, and I loved how the markings looked on her face. So I thought it would be a nice challenge. )

I am so happy with how she turned out and I've been so damn excited for you guys to see her!!!! So hopefully you guys like the new and improved Wisp! If you guys have any issues reading the little notes, just say the word and I'll put translations in the description. I'll be posting a whole big explanation on Clan Desti and their society, traditions, how Syn came to power, the changes, and other major characters very soon. I have it all typed out, but I'm still working out the kinks.

But I am so proud of this new design and I absolutely love this character again. I just felt that I couldn't anymore. And when you can't bring yourself to love your own character, you know it's time for a change.  I still kept her basic silhouette that she originally had, like her skeleton-like features and whatnot. I still loved those and wanted them in there, but I made the whole design a lot more cohesive and logical (i.e. which part goes where, how she might transform, closer to the show's style, etc.). I also wanted her to be the spot in between of creepy, but also adorable, if that makes any sense? And I think I got pretty close to that. On one hand, she'd be a terrifying sight to come across in a dark alley with the glowing lights and skeletal form, but on the other....LOOK AT THEM BIG OL' EYES, AND THOSE LITTLE ELF EARS!!!!! Ain't she a sweetheart?

Anyway, super proud of this and I hope you guys love her too!!! Not sure what's up next, but I might slow down a bit in the coming month. Things are gonna be a bit busier than usual. Nothing extreme, but I just wanted to give a head up just in case.
