Description From my favorite Norse myth.

(This is as I've heard it, at least.)
After cutting off all of Sif's hair in an act of mischief, being threatened by Thor and forced to replace it, Loki traveled to Svartálfaheim to commission from the sons of Ivaldi new hair for Sif and other gifts for the Æsir. The ship Skídbladnir was made for Frey and the spear Gungnir for Odin.
Loki praised the dwarves, claiming that they were the best smiths in the Nine Realms. He was overheard by the dwarf brothers Brokk and Sindri, who wagered that they could make three better gifts for the gods, at the price of the loser's head. Loki agreed to the bet.
Brokk was to work the bellows while Sindri was in the forge, and if Brokk stopped for even a moment, the piece Sindri was creating would be ruined.
Fearing for his life, Loki turned himself into a midge and pestered Brokk in an effort to make him falter. Despite the trickster's efforts, Brokk persisted at the bellows as the boar Gullin-börsti was created, as well as the ring Draupnir. However, when Loki bit Brokk above the eye and the dwarf paused to wipe away the blood, the hammer Mjölnir, which Sindri was forging for Thor, was compromised, made with too short a handle.
When the six gifts were presented to the Æsir, it was decided that because of Mjölnir's power and the advantage it would give the Æsir against the Jötuns, Brokk's gifts were greater.
Loki then attempted to flee, but was stopped by Thor. As Brokk approached to take the head of the God of Mischief, Loki agreed to the terms of the wager, but argued that his neck was all his own, and Brokk could not touch it. He added that his head must be taken in one piece, with nothing left behind, since it rightfully belonged to Brokk.
Since the dwarf could not cut off Loki's head in one piece without also taking some of his neck, a different punishment was devised: Brokk would at least cease Loki's talk by taking an awl and leather thong and sewing his lips shut.
The Æsir celebrated that night and taunted the silenced Loki, who later left and tore out the thong.
The scars left made Loki's mischievous smile seem more wicked than cunning, and he began planning his revenge on the Æsir.

Please excuse any physical/anatomical anomalies, it is frowned upon to mutilate people for the sake of a suitable reference.
(Also, sorry for the poor quality, I'll update when I scan it, this was taken with the camera on my phone.)
