Description
Yet another TMNT redesign. This time it's Ray Fillet, the hero of the deep.I wanted to make this character a bit more playful like the old action figures from when I was a kid. Thus the duck float and the harpoon tail. I also wanted to make him look a lot more like a superhero and snagged this pose directly from an illustration of superman. His fins just make such a convenient cape!
This will probably be the last thing I post for a bit, as I am moving to another country and starting school again. I hope you all enjoy it.

That's awesome! I used to love those old toys SO much. They usually met messy ends though.

The duck floatie... freakin' priceless. Didn't care much for the name Ray Fillet as a kid, always preferred him in the comics as Man Ray. This redesign is fantastic. Best with everything, looking forward to more of these. Love your take on them.

Yeah! I kept trying to look him up as "Man Ray" on google, but kept getting the toy "Ray Fillet". I thought I was confused on the name.
Many thanks man!

haha. Oh no. Terrible.
Thanks man! If all goes as planned I'll be back in the states in a couple of years. I'll be In New Zealand though, so it's not like I'll be without internet. I'm just going to be REALLY busy with school and stuff.

Cool. I remember the toys having weird little funky details like the rubber duck. Good luck in your new endeavors dude!

haha. Yeah. I think for his toy he had some sort of wet suit and those flippers on his feet. I like to include rubber ducks in my drawings one way or another so that's why I gave him the little floaty. Those old toys were REALLY creative.
Many thanks man! It's pretty exciting!

Thanks! That expression was really fun. I redid his smile about a half a dozen times.
Yeah. I'm getting out of this snow! Moving down to New Zealand, where it's smack dab in the middle of the summer.

I remember how much I moved this dude! I think my favorites were him, Mondo Gecko, the orange triceratops og that mutant freak with his brain in a jar and veins everywhere.
Realy nice rendering here!

Oooo. Yeah. I've had some ideas for that brain in a jar dude for a while (Mutagen Man). I had that toy when I was younger and it was always fascinating to me.
Thank you much man!

It really does remind me more of the toy I loved so much as a kid than what he looked like in the comics. Brings back memories, he was one of my favourite overall TMNT toys, I miss that toy
Have fun setting up in whatever it is new country you're going to and we'll see ya when you get back!

I don't think I ever actually owned this guy. I always coveted it when I saw it in the store though. At that point I think my parents had figured that a couple of dozen TMNT toys was more than enough.
Thank you much! If all goes as planned I'll probably be back to the states in a couple of years. I'll be in New Zealand though, so it's not like I'll be somewhere 3rd world. I'm just going to be SUPER busy.

This is ace, I'm not overly familiar with the original design but I think this is great. I really like his expression especially, reminds me a bit of Powdered Toastman.

haha. Yeah. I was just noticing the Powdered Toastman resemblance the other day too. I was definitely going for that kind of character though. Sort of a dim superhero type.
