have you ever tried making an animation with this model?

no I never thought about making animation out of this model. I'm not sure how I would animate it. Are you thinking I rotation or spin of some type?

There's some you tube videos of an electronic device that looks a lot like yours. I searched you tube for "LED color cube"

Here's one something that this your box reminded me of: [link]

Basically, it's a 3-d grid of LEDs that turn on and off or change colors to make the box be animated.

Interesting. By shear coincidence I came across something similar that was developed independantly of my original design at [link] honestly I was just experimenting.

That's a good idea though. I'm not sure when I'll have the time. If you want to check the forums at www.povray.org, I think I made the source available, (around 4 years ago I think).

your link isn't working unfortunately.

Yeah, it's pretty cool technology. It would be really cool to have a grid that is 16 x 16 x 16, but that is 4096 LEDs (really of expensive Maybe 10 x 10 x 10 would be more affordable?

I'm not sure how to program something like this. It's a lot more complicated than the commonplace LED animated signs.
