Yes, I do) Most of our assignments are pretty standard though - still life, figure drawing, studies, etc. All on huge rolls of paper, which I hate. A good study painted with oils takes more than 10 hours for me. Since we have much less time during classes and the teacher wants everything to be done at the end of each class... well, the lack of time really shows it's ugly face in my school artwork. It wouldn't be a problem if we were able to paint digitally, but nah, we can't. So I rarely upload any school assignments, they are pretty pathetic xD
This one left us more freedom with subject, we were supposed to do 10 sketches/drawings/paintings/whatever on A4 or smaller paper. And it's not like my teacher was delighted with my choice of monsters theme, she's not much into fantasy.
And you too are attending an art school? I mean, your works look like you do. You seem to have a lot of knowledge about colours, perspective and composition)

I attended an art school as a complementary education along with a normal school at the age of... from 11 to 15, I would say. It gave me a stable basis like, you know, if light is warm then shadows are cold and visa versa - and other basic knowledge. We drew a lot of still life in different media, bit lots of fake fruits when teacher's not around, studied history of art (very poorly), even made clay figures of all sorts. But there vere little to no creative assignments at all. Ah, I can remember one when we tried to draw a cat stylised differently, but I was too young to get it right) Anyway the art school gave me a lot of theory and the ability to put it into practice and taught me how to draw peaches and drapery but not human body) I studied anatomy myself (and still do). I'm glad I attended it anyways because education not only gives us knowledge but also trains willpower

I was just cleaning my inbox, and to my absolute horror, under some other, more recent answers I found this one.
Unanswered for almost half a year. I just kept it for a moment when I'll have enough energy and time to write some longer message and forgot about it. Shame on me, and sorry ;__;
I think it was the right way to study things this way, I mean, to start with basics and then moving on to learning on your own and figuring out your personal style. It's like learning grammar and vocabulary before you start writing poetry. It gave you strong base for further development, more conscious one, and it shows in your style - you have really good understanding of depth, colours and light.)
I did it the other way around - it took me years to actually start learning basics instead of just drawing stuff xD

Not really. I tried to avoid known concepts, such as a zombie or a troll, I rather focused on making something completely out of my head. In general they are slightly inspired by Dark Souls, but not really any of them in particular, rather the whole concept of creating something weird, unsettling and original - I always liked it about Souls how creative they are with monsters x)

I see. I always found the Souls monsters to have a somewhat emaciated feel to them. It often reminds me of Black Death Europe. Themes of famine and pestilence.
