Description

Wall.e trailed the little robot, the stewards, and E.v.e. (still dormant) out of the docking bay, through part of the lower economy section, and into the elevator, somehow ending up behind the cart as the stewards crowded into the elevator with it and Wall.e. Wall.e, concerned for E.v.e., tried to squidge past one of the stewards so she could try to wake her up. This only earned Wall.e the inquisitive stares of the Stewards, who had never actually seen a Wall.e unit before. The little robot also turned around, which Wall.e also perceived as an interested stare. One of the stewards then turned to the robot, and asked, [Hey boss, how did this archaic unit survive for so long?] The robot replied, [I'm trying to figure that out myself. I assume that it has something to do with the Waste Allocation Load Lifter: Earth Class having extreme durability.] Wall.e then chimed in, [That's part of it. I also had to learn to remove functional parts from dead Wall.es, and repair myself using those parts whenever one broke. It was also super hard not to get bored while cleaning up New York, so I made a few friends, collected anything that caught my interest, and started learning some new skills and hobbies.] The robot seemed confused by this revelation of personality (well, he looked as confused as a robot could look confused), and the stewards were flat out stunned. At that moment, the elevator came to a stop, and the doors opened with a ding.

Wall.e trailed the cart out into a busy hallway. This had a near constant stream of cyborg syths, dragons, and robots (among other creatures) moving in one direction or the other, like a busy highway. Wall.e noticed that the traffic was roughly centered around a blue line in the middle of the hallway. The floor was in contrast painted mostly gray, and the walls a dull yellow, with distinct Red, White, and Blue stripes running down the length of it about halfway up the walls. Wall.e herself almost missed the cart and the stewards slipping into an open gap in the traffic, and was unable to slip into the gap after them. She nervously waited for a moment as a particularly large train of robots and other synths began to pass. Then, noticing that E.v.e. was getting further and further away, Wall.e dove headfirst into the rushing traffic and resumed chasing the cart E.v.e. was strapped to. She didn't notice the robots and synths behind her crashing into each other... and the wall... and into robots in other "lanes"... and even the floor and the ceiling. Wall.e continued chasing E.v.e., dodging and weaving through the traffic with a level of agility she didn't know she had. With the exception of one, who shouted [Asshole!] at her, most of the robots in particular were either merely surprised or outright excited just to see a Wall.e unit, never mind how fast she was moving, nor her desperation to catch up with the dormant E.v.e. probe ahead. Wall.e continued chasing E.v.e.'s cart even as the traffic patterns changed and humans in hoverchairs began to appear.

Wall.e was momentarily distracted when she left the economy section and entered the spacious, luxurious Lido Deck. She looked around as she continued to run, noticing the sheer amount of large, colorful billboard style ads placed around the deck. She also noticed a number of luxury business type places and specialist robots, dragons, and synths at work. Wall.e also noticed something weird about these humans. None of them seemed to be reacting to her... or to their surroundings. They were all engrossed in their video chats, digital games, and whatever else was on their holographic screens at the moment. Wall.e realized just how little attention these people payed to their surroundings when she momentarily ended up between two of them... who were video calling each other while sitting right next to each other. Wall.e was then offered an empty cup by another human, who told her, "Here, take the cup." Wall.e responded by edging away from him as she ran. He only repeated, "Take the cup! Take the cup!", stretched out to the side to try to make Wall.e take the cup, and fell out of his chair with a loud, 'Woah-oof!" A pair of stewards appeared almost immediately, automatically saying "Please remain stationary. A service bot will assist you momentarily." The human traffic was diverted around their now helpless fellow. Wall.e also found herself stuck inside the annoying traffic loop with the stewards and the human. After a moment of indecision on whether to leave the human and continue looking for E.v.e. or help the human, Wall.e let her willingness to help get the better of her. She pushed the human up into a sitting position, and then half hauled him, half shoved him back onto his chair, grabbing the chair to stop it from spinning too much after the human was pushed onto it from the side. She then leaned down, and waved, saying, "Dup-boop! Wall.e!" The human responded, "Uh, John." Wall.e inquired, "E.v.a.?" to John. John responded, " Uh No, John." Wall.e looked up, spotted E.v.e., and shouted, "E.V.A.!" once again breaking into a run. As she ran, she picked out John saying, "Bye, Wall.e."

Wall.e chased E.v.e. all the way to the people mover, hopping on board just before the holographic barrier appeared. She ended up stuck between two hoverchairs, but that didn't bother her so much now that E.v.e. was only a few feet away. Wall.e still wanted to get to the cart though, so she gestured to the person in the hoverchair next to her to let her through. They ignored her, as they were too busy talking to someone else on video call. Wall.e then tried to squish herself around the back of the hoverchair... but the occupant chose that moment to move backwards, and accidentally squish Wall.e into the wall. Wall.e attracted more attention from the Stewards and the Little Robot than she did the occupant of the hoverchair as she yelped in pain, backed out from behind the chair, and checked herself for bruises. Wall.e then tried to walk around the front of the hoverchair, but again the human occupant was in the way... sort of. Awkwardly leaning in front of the chair, Wall.e exclaimed, "Dup-boop!" and waved. The human didn't even notice. Wall.e now noticed the ear pieces on either side of the chair, and not having any better way of getting the occupants attention, grabbed and tugged at the earpiece. The earpieces swiveled away from the occupant's ears, and the holographic screen disappeared, giving Wall.e a good look at the face of a now confused woman. She exclaimed, "What The?!?" as Wall.e pushed the earpieces back further, accidentally jamming them in place as she did so. Wall.e then leaned in front of the chair again, exclaiming, "Dup-Boop! Wall.e!" The woman replied, "Um, Mary." Wall.e then pointed at E.v.e., and remarked, "E.v.a." Mary got the message better than John did, saying, "Oh, sure!, and backing her chair up to allow Wall.e to pass in front of her. Wall.e gave her a grateful tap with her nose as she did so, then clambered onto the back of the cart, gently whispering, "E.v.a." to a still dormant E.v.e.. The Stewards and the Little Robot now exchanged glances. None of them had expected Wall.e to be that determined to stay by E.v.e.'s side.

The people mover dropped them off near the base of an enormous white tower overlooking a large set of pools. Wall.e, now sitting on the cart with E.v.e., looked up in awe at the sheer height if the tower, and almost fell off the cart in doing so. She hastily caught herself on the back of the cart, and pushed herself back up into a sitting position. She then looked down. Only then did it occur to Wall.e that she was accidentally sitting on E.v.e's tail. Wall.e then scooted back and awkwardly seated herself on the back handle, gripping it with both hands to steady herself. She then looked up again, and saw a pair of white double doors sliding open in front of them. The Stewards were now standing at attention on either side of the doors, while the cart continued into the next room, which was a cool matte black- a sharp contrast to the previous bright colors and artificial sunshine. A robot typist was hovering in the center of the room over a keyboard consisting of 1's, and 0's. It was typing using the "Hunt and Peck" method- a very inefficient and slow method of typing. The Little Robot hovered slightly further above the platform on the front of the cart than he had before. The other robot looked up, remarking, [GO-4, is that actually a Wall.e on the back of your cart? Rumors travel fast these days...] GO-4 replied, [Yes, that is a Wall.e, Typ.e, and what I don't understand is why she's so determined to stay by E.v.e. Probe 1's side...] Typ.e giggled electronically, quipping, [Rumor has it that this Wall.e has a crush on E.v.e.. I suppose only time will tell if E.v.e. begins to reciprocate those feelings!] GO-4 then seemed to tire of the small talk, and requested, [Typ.e, send us up to the bridge, and let Auto know that I'm not joking when I say "I've found a Wall.e as well as a positive E.v.e. probe.] Typ.e quipped, [You'd be no fun at parties...], and grudgingly sent them on their way. Wall.e waved to Typ.e, exclaiming "Dup-Boop!" as the cart floated into the elevator. As the doors closed, Typ.e waved to herself in confusion, not having known that she could wave before Wall.e showed her how.
