The Howldiver is both the premiere aerial hunter of the Tidal Class, and the premiere aquatic hunter of the Strike class, boasting a range of traits and abilities that allow it to exploit both environments effectively. The Howldiver possesses a set of gills that effectively allow it to breathe underwater, a trait which was likely secondarily evolved. This allows the dragon to stay underwater for far longer than even its deepest diving compatriots. In addition to the gills, this dragon can effectively slow down its heart rate, allowing it to lie completely still on a reef, a riverbed, a lakebed... for hours at a time. This also allows the dragon to set up ambushes against unwary dragons, human vessels, and even prey swimming above it. This dragon can also fly extremely fast, raise or lower its body temperature as needed, and even soar for hours if not days at a time. The Howldiver can spit either liquid water or ice depending on its current body temperature. Attempting to train Mediterranean Howldivers isn't recommended- due to large scale dragon hunting in the area, the local Howldivers have become aggressive and will attack any and all human vessels on sight.
