After finding one of the painted eggs hidden within the forest, Kuda couldn't help but feel worried for the small egg. It reminded her too much of how she was first born: lost and hungry. Fortunately Curry was able find Kuda before anything horrible or scary happened to the young Wyngling, but what happens if it hatches before Kuda returns with Alma? Or if something harms it?

Feeling a deep urge to protect the painted egg, Kuda plucked the feather that were growing off her arm-- wincing only slightly-- before gently setting it down all around the egg. This would protect it from anything.

With a determined nod of her head, Kuda quickly turned around and raced back towards Alma: she would take better care of the egg than her! She'll know what to do!
