After Hurricane Ike I was without power for almost 2 weeks. During most of that time I could not work due to no power at the vet clinic I work at so I sat around making customs in the dark with a little LED headlamp strapped to my forehead. This is one of the ponies I made during that time.This is a custom My Little Pony entitled Sweets to the Sweet (yeah, yeah....I like Candyman, lol). She was made from a white Hasbro blank pony (you can get them from Hasbro's website) that I rerooted with Restoredoll hair in orange and black stripes. Her corset, tights, arm warmers and boots were hand sculpted from Apoxie Clay. I then painted everything the clothing, eyes, and close to 90 teeny candy corns and then sealed it all for protection.
She is on eBay right now under the ID Messiah6 and will end next Saturday night (10/18/08).

Do you get paid a lot of these? I have done a few but have never bothered selling because I do it for the enjoyment, but now I need money to get me through vet school.

Really cute custom! I couldn't help but notice--you lost power in Ike? I live in New Orleans and lost power for a few days after Gustav, and about a day during Ike. You poor thing! I know how that is.

I hope you don't mind me asking, but I alway wondered. Do you sculpt the corset and shoes directly onto to model or are they removable?

They are sculpted onto the pony and are not removable

That's amazing that you did this with only a small headlamp for light. The details are lovely as usual, and I really like the... wrist warmers? The one on her front legs. They look soft.

I really respect the detail that goes into all of your sculpting. I feel like my sculpting is still a bit too bulky for the ponies bodies but I guess its just a matter of practice. I love this one, she makes me feel halloweeny! Bravo, once again!

Yep, practice practice. I STILL, after years of customizing, mix way too much clay when I'm getting ready to sculpt something. Always end up with a big blob left over. Once I started forcing myself to put less clay on the pony's body when I wanted to sculpt clothing, things started looking more natural.

That's horrible about not having any power but at least you did something productive. I probably would have tried to sleep though it or read the whole time.
I really like the Halloween theme with the balck and orange hair, clothes and the candy corn.
