Description
These Words Aren't Pretty:My verses are ugly and I admit to the fact
I can't use pretty language when I'm working with rap
Because the things that I write, are just the things that I feel
I ain't an Edgar Allan Poe or a Danielle Steel
And I'll be honest with you, I've got an envy inside
Because some poets got a flow that's as smooth as the tide
I read some stuff that they write, it's just so dope I ignite
Burning shame and my anger at the beautiful sight
And like birds of a feather, they're flocking together
These poets are the Gods and I'm nailed by the weather
But as the rain pours down, lightning resound;
I try to write pretty words but my lips remain bound
So deeply silenced by fear - the darkness I hear,
Afraid to be unloved by the ones I hold dear
I've hit the limit of time; my lyrical crime
These words that I've lived are just turning to grime.
So I wish I had their talent; just a sliver of that
If their skill was a mountain then I've broken my back
It's like the city of Gotham, where my poetry bleeds
I'm just the poet they've got, but not the one they need...

Although you may be an urban writer, your poems are still beautiful. It's the fact that it's urban that makes it unique, as opposed to the usual flowly poems that are just becoming mainstream, and your poems are easy to relate to. That's why you have so many fans. Keep writing this awesome style

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, my friend. Your words have a beauty of their own, one more people can't express themselves. You may not be Steel, but neither is she you.

I really like this one. (I think I say that for every loem I comment on though.)
It's so relateble and interesting to see how even though I would say you're a great poet and my skill is nothing compared to yours, you too have the same uneasy feeling about your work and "Is it good enough" blues.
I think that's a feeling everyone has though, no matter the medium or skill. Sometimes I feel as if sites like DA are just as much a blessing as a curse. You're exposed to so many great pieces of art and you can share your own as well, but when you see what others can come up with it can be frightful. What if you're not good enough?
I know I for one constantly feel as if I'm not good enough and never will be on par with half the people on this site, but that's just a feeling. They can be easily brushed away (at least for me). I suppose what makes great artist greats is that they do keep working at their craft and always feel as if they can learn something and strive to do better even if the rest of the world won't notice their talent untill their dead or tells them they've already reached the highest form of art you can muster.
I think for me that's my goal. I don't ever want to fall into the trap that I'm "the stuff" and always keep on my toes looking out for new and better things. Instead of morning over a different style I admire, I'll just try to be inspired by it and incorporate the feeling and what I like about it into my own works. Art is just another form of thought anyway and thoughts are always chanigng and growing.

What I love the most about poetry is when poets write how they really feel.
I don't like empty poesy even if beautifully written, there is nothing I like more then capt the emotion inside the verses.

The voice of most poets in society, right here. You, sir, have more talent than some people I've seen, me included. :'D

This is amazing! Your words may not be the most refined, but the poetry you made them into is beautiful! You've got quite a talent there!

I really, really liked this--until I read the batman reference. -_-; LOL
Still, it flowed nicely. C: Good work, and I feel the same all the time.

I feel like that every time I try and write a poem, which is probably why I only have two in my dA gallery. Ah well. I'm more of a story-writer than anything anyway, even if I'm not Stephen King or James Patterson.

Increadibly amazing!
But don't worry! Each one has his own style for a reason.
Not everybody can be the same. It'd be boring if that ever happened!

To be honest you are the only dA poet I watch. xD
I don't know if that helps your self-esteem or not, but there it is.
