teasing stammers
faded as they flickered?

Taunting me with possibility
Hurting yourself on the thorns
and snags of past mistakes.
I see you dimly now
as a stranger on a parallel trail,
overcast with leaves
and disappearing into trees.
Now our paths diverge
and the wide hill is approaching.
I don't know where you're going,
but it looks like I'm climbing alone.
