Description
So recent development in Campus Safari ( [link] ) has led to Cilke and Chrome meeting each other, and thus I made a wallpaper featuring them in a japanese garden setting. It feels a bit like a rush job, as I colored it like crazy last night, because I've had and still have a hectic work schedule now. But I like it because of the vibrant color scheme (which is thanks to the color composition I made with Kuler [link] ).
Full view is 800 x 600 version. Download the thing for the 1600 x 1200 version.
Cilke and Cyantian Chronicles is courtesy of ~shivaesyke and Chrome is courtesy of his player (I actually haven't asked his permission but I hope he won't mind

I really like your color scheme here, it's so peaceful and happy and the thumbnail really jumped out at me because of it. Nice Valentines Day picture that evokes the right feelings without being pink!

I like to look at this one when I need cheering up - the colors, the theme, the presentation - it's a very positive piece...

Your art is always incredible... Any tips for an aspiring artist? (like how you do such great shading?)

I learnt how to paint with acrylics years ago and picked up some hints on how to pick out colors for shades (mix in some dark complementary colors for shading and whatnot). There are so many ways to do it and I urge you to find out what works for you by yourself.
There are two simple tips that I could give for you to become a better artist.
- Pick up painting. Oils if you like to think through your paintings, acrylics if you don't like to wait for the paint to dry or water colors if you want a challenge. I've painted with acrylic colors years ago and most of the stuff you learn can easily be transferred to digital painting.
- The other tip is to "think 3D". This exact tip was given to me by two other artists and means that you should think how your subject looks in the depth axis. You can't really teach this, it has to happen intuitively and takes a lot of practice to finally click in your head to make your stuff look real on a two dimensional canvas.
Good luck!

The things you miss when you loose track of the forum. I didn't even realize Campus Safari was running again.
