Description
A fallen soldier and his weapon. A grim subject. An illustration for the upcoming cd of my band titled 'Killing Reality'. Thematic lyrics dealing with WWII. Hey, it's metal, not happy pop music.
I do see some room for improvement, but on the whole I am quite satisfied.
PS CS3 / 5h
*EDIT* Minor update, put some grime on the hand and some small detailing, this is it

Here because Tuomas Koivurinne (previously PatriaTyrannus) favoured this. Excellent artwork. Going to find a demo of your audio now to have a listen; because WWII themed metal is not only yes, but fuck yes.

Thanks!
Damn right!!
New work in progress (music wise). Title's until now: Calibre 88 (Pz VI Tiger), Fire Boundary (Rotterdam bombing), Order 227 (Stalin's order to never retreat), V2 (obvious...), Hongerwinter (Dutch; winter of starvation 1944.
Also listen to Hail of Bullets, if you don't know them already. Same theme.

It's taken me a little while to get back to this message specifically. Good recommendations on music by the way. I have a Dutch friend whose grandparents have .303 caliber holes in their brickwork; I had to apologize (being Canadian and all). Seems like a song is in there somewhere. Have a listen to Bolt Thrower's "Anti-Tank" (alternative title "Dead Armour") and see what art images that inspires. I'm looking at doing a short video based on the lyrics to that using Iron Front: Liberation 1944 as a base, since it matches up pretty beautifully.

Holes in the brickwork, yeah, some people have kept those as a monument to an era. No need to apologise, Canadians are held in pretty high regard over here.
Just added Bolt Thrower to my Spotify lists, hadn't done that yet. Thanks for the reminder A video sounds great, let me know if/when you get around to it!

Thanks mate. I appreciate it is a touchy subject, but then again, it's supposed to be a lesson. Lessons like that can't be remembered if it's to subtle. You go do that \m/

Actually would be interesting to hear 1958 The Chordettes sing a cover-version of "Trinity", or you banging out about lollipops etc.
I agree with =Pene , about the atmosphere of coldness and dispair. Only thing I'd change (if I knew anything about digital art) would be the helmet. The Stahlhelm in the pic looks a bit too "cylinder" shaped, other than that it's great, eerie illustration.

Nice job. The colour usage is very well down, gives it a grim, depressed feeling to it.

very cool work! i like the amount of detail put into it, as well as the high contrast in colours.... i think it just needs a little red somewhere... like a red iron cross on his arm or something... n then maybe a little blood in the water... but yeah overall its awesome!
