Just did some research after you pointed me in the direction of the Jacobin, it's not one of those. However, I did stumble upon an article discussing pigeons, this appears to be an "old Dutch capuchine" or "Oud-Hollandse Kapucijn" in Dutch. After googling a bit, I found out that they were bred from ordinary rock pigeons. Also, these were kept at the stork village at Zegveld, and were free to fly anywhere they wanted, so if they truly were that expensive, they wouldn't have let them fly free.

Ooops, sorry. I've been extremely distracted by issues here at home, else I would have caught the distinction.
I'm not a "fancier" myself, but I did have a friend many, many years ago that was really into pigeons.
While this particular bird might not have been as valuable, you will notice that the $328,000 bird was the same type of Dutch fancy.

It's one of the "fancy" types called a Jacobin Pigeon.

Yeah, that's a pigeon allright. But it's understandable that you would be confused, as he is obviously a spy: note the collar of his trench coat turned up to obscure his face and the furtive look in his eye.
