Description Red fox (vulpes vulpes, liska obecna) from Pasíčka, station for animals, who are handicaped or who simply can not survive in the wild; Czech republic

NEWEST PHOTO -----> ADORABLE BABY WOLVES!

Story of the photo: this fox has only one eye. It was found in the forest. Expersts say that some myslivci probably used this fox to train their dogs, although it is illegal. One-eyed fox fortunately has a nice home and lovely care now... It lives in a big cage with two other saved red foxes, they have some grass and tree trunks there, comfortable looking boxes to hide and very tasty looking meat. When I saw them, fur of all three foxes was literally shining and foxes seemed very relaxed. I was very satisfied when I saw their living conditions. I bet they have nice lives now

EDIT: I am NOT the one who blame the myslivci! EXPERTS from the station say that. The fox has also NO teeth and there are probably more indications, that myslivci did this to the fox. But stop flaming me for just publishing the opinion of the experts also, people, who think they can surely know "how it really happened" are arrogant - it is so stupid that they think they know everything just through looking at the photo. Experts know this fox in person, they saved her and treat her - they simply DO KNOW BETTER. Deal with that.

EDIT NO.2: HONESTLY, PEOPLE - SPEAKING ABOUT SOMETHING YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT MAKES YOU LOOK A BIT STUPID SITTING IN USA, CANADA, FINLAND OR AUSTRALIA, YOU CAN HARDLY KNOW, WHO MYSLIVCI ARE. SO BETTER NOT SPEAK ABOUT THEM. COMMENTING ABOUT SOMETHING YOU DO NOT KNOW IS A BIT EMBARRASING FOR YOU

about ,,IT WAS NOT INJURED BY DOGS, AS NO INJURIES ARE VISIBLE" - I saw a baby fox few days ago, who was brought by myslivci THEMSELVES, and they THEMSELVES said that their dog hunted and injured the fox kit. Fox was injured only few hours ago. And still I had to hold the baby in my arms to be able to touch and feel the injuries. They were all hidden under her SUMMER fur, so no photos show them. Fox in the picture is in her FLUFFY WINTER FUR. So your theory ,,myslivci's dogs did not do it, because no scars are visible" is very naive, as fluffy fur could hide EVERYTHIG.

So again, better not comment, because you know nothing about myslivci

Location: red fox is native to North America, whole Europe, whole Asia, north Africa and it was introduced to Australia
Size: 100 cm long body + 45 cm long tail, 40 cm high weight: 12 kg

Interesting facts: red fox can hide its food to find it later | usually five cubs are born blind and helpless in the burrow | foxes have many colour variations: usually – ginger-red, but also black or silver, Unfortunately, red fox is kept by fur farms and some ----- torture them just to gain their fur. Red foxes are also hunted by so called ,,sportmen“ | red foxes suffer from rabies | red fox is considered to be vermit | red foxes produce pretty weird sounds XD | foxes in the wild live only some 4 years, but they can reach 12 years in captivity
Enemies: golden eagles, gray wolves, cougars, lynxes, coyotes, badgers, wolverines
Legend: foxes play important role in many myths and legend. Due their inteligence, they have become symbol of slyness and cunning. They are also very popular animals, who have role in many fairy tales. In the Czech republic, author Rudolf Tesnohlidek wrote very famous book about very clever hand-rised vixen called Bystrouska. I loved that book and also it funny happy end!

Reading things like "ome stupid hunters probably used this fox to train their hunting dogs" actually makes me pretty angry. I do realise I don't even know if they did that. And I do realise how stupid it really is to get angry at people doing bad things and hate on them, as it is part of a pretty problematic circle. But god, do I hate it when people mistreat life, abuse "power" (in what ever way they have it) and do things like that.
I know I should not. But I can't help it.

At least it has a good home now, though its sad to see an innocent animal hurt, poaching needs to be taken much more seriously, and the penalties for it raised.

What loser would blame YOU for the hunter theory??? Experts know what they're looking at, not people who have no idea looking at a picture. Hunting with dogs is cruel, no question, with even the hunting dogs usually treated VERY poorly.

But isn't it a little strange, that a fox that was supposedly savagely attacked, so badly that he was blinded, doesn't have ANY scares what-so-ever anywhere near his eye? Scars are pretty easy to see on the face, being as the fur doesn't grow on scar tissue... not to mention the fur on most parts of a fox's face is pretty short.. It's clear to see that there isn't a single scar on this fox's face.

I, myself am completely against the hunting of animals like foxes, and wolves.
I love all dog related animals, but in honesty, me and my family DO hunt deer and ducks (Its more of a traditional thing.)

It sounds to me that you are just against the hunting of canine species? If not then sorry, but canines aren't any better than a pig slaughtered for meat.

devilboy23 In reply to Lupen202 [2011-06-03 02:12:10 +0000 UTC]

Any canine species for hunting is horrid. And no, I dont hunt any kinds of canine. The slaughtering of pigs is disgusting too.
But, For me, it's one of those things thats always been, well hunting that is.

My great grand daddy hunted, my grandfather hunts, my dad hunts, my uncles hunt, and half my cousins hunt (due to which side of the family their on.)
So as you see, it's a traditional thing, but also I freaking love shotguns. But I'd much rather use them on clay pigeons ( small clay targets) instead of using them on god's creations.

Lupen202 In reply to devilboy23 [2011-06-03 02:21:31 +0000 UTC]

Well, I can kind of understand why you might think it's horrid, as I used to. And I still think hunting is horrible IF you only kill for one thing - like the fur alone, or the meat, and leave everything else, or if you kill just to kill for fun, leaving the carcass there. Everything can and should be used. Fur for taxidermy, clothes, blankets, meat for food or pet food, and bones can be used for carving or to sell.

Hunting itself really isn't horrible. It's the hunters that are horrible. Hunting can be humane, or not. Animals can be shot in the head and die instantly, or shot wherever until they drop. It can be painful, or painless. It just all depends on the person, and hopefully your family are those people that are responsible and respectful.

devilboy23 In reply to Lupen202 [2011-06-03 20:30:50 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I see where your going. Killing animals for fur is the most fucked up thing ever.Whats the point of killing real animals for a stupid 500 dollar jacket, if science has already come out with a type of fur made from actual wool material, not animals. For our family, we kill for several things.Population control, a small bit for fun, but we always take the whole animal with us if we kill it, not just take a picture and leave. No one I know really LIKES to kill animals.I have three dogs, a small gecko, and I want a hedgehog. But Im also not a bunny hugging animal rights associate (if a little offensive in terms of the name)

Yes, I agree. We use the standard way. The only thing we use that involves animals in training is the dogs themselves.Their trained with the formula like throwing tennis ball for them to fetch (I don't really know how to be descriptive with it.) But it sickens me when I go on the news EVERYDAY and see these hunters from other places use real animals as bait, and training material, just for th sake of money. And yes, we are. We barely hunt to begin with. Only in the beginning of fall when it's legal.

Lupen202 In reply to devilboy23 [2011-06-04 07:30:36 +0000 UTC]

Killing animals just for fur is messed up, but did you know fur fars don't always kill just for fur even? A lot of the meat is a bi-product used in animal food. So it is more rare than people think for people to kill just for fur. Depends on where you live though I'm sure. Fur farms are a lot less humane and such in some places of the world.

And about using real animals, live ones anyways, to train dogs, is uncalled for, especially when there are so many other ways to train a dog that would work just as good. Makes no sense, except of course for the sake of money, to have an animal harmed just for the training part. And that's good. Some hunters out there just give everyone else a bad name sadly :\ like those that use live bait, kill the animals slowly, or just hunt for one particular item/part. Hunting, taxidermy, and the like all would be so much more accepted I think if everyone was just a little more responsible and respectful of the animal's life.

Yeah. I guess the points of few have meaning in between the two of us, but now were kind of pushing it.
Hunting can be good or bad depending on the standards of dog training, hunting reasons, and responsibility.

For me , hunting is just gratuitous cruelty.
Hunters you suck!

And I'm so happy that the poor fox can finally find a bit of peace, even if I'm not sure she will forget all the bad things the hunters made to her.

I do not know why, people are stupid enough to think, that if they look at the photo, they know exactly what happen to this fox ("it was not any hunter! stop anti hunter propaganda!"), while the experts, who REALLY treat this fox, know nothing.

Those people are stupid and arrogant

The most funny is ,,a racoon hurt the fox" theory. Funny, because no racoons live here.

I love you photoghrapic work, but I realy find it rude that you insult people like that, and refuse to accept people's opinion or views on it.
and not everyone who has their own view on the matter is being "arrogant" or a "flamer"
and unlike you I dont cowardly block and run away from the conversation. how old are you!? realy?
