Description Red fox (vulpes vulpes, liska obecna) from Pasíčka, station for animals, who are handicaped or who simply can not survive in the wild; Czech republic

NEWEST PHOTO -----> ADORABLE BABY WOLVES!

Story of the photo: this fox has only one eye. It was found in the forest. Expersts say that some myslivci probably used this fox to train their dogs, although it is illegal. One-eyed fox fortunately has a nice home and lovely care now... It lives in a big cage with two other saved red foxes, they have some grass and tree trunks there, comfortable looking boxes to hide and very tasty looking meat. When I saw them, fur of all three foxes was literally shining and foxes seemed very relaxed. I was very satisfied when I saw their living conditions. I bet they have nice lives now

EDIT: I am NOT the one who blame the myslivci! EXPERTS from the station say that. The fox has also NO teeth and there are probably more indications, that myslivci did this to the fox. But stop flaming me for just publishing the opinion of the experts also, people, who think they can surely know "how it really happened" are arrogant - it is so stupid that they think they know everything just through looking at the photo. Experts know this fox in person, they saved her and treat her - they simply DO KNOW BETTER. Deal with that.

EDIT NO.2: HONESTLY, PEOPLE - SPEAKING ABOUT SOMETHING YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT MAKES YOU LOOK A BIT STUPID SITTING IN USA, CANADA, FINLAND OR AUSTRALIA, YOU CAN HARDLY KNOW, WHO MYSLIVCI ARE. SO BETTER NOT SPEAK ABOUT THEM. COMMENTING ABOUT SOMETHING YOU DO NOT KNOW IS A BIT EMBARRASING FOR YOU

about ,,IT WAS NOT INJURED BY DOGS, AS NO INJURIES ARE VISIBLE" - I saw a baby fox few days ago, who was brought by myslivci THEMSELVES, and they THEMSELVES said that their dog hunted and injured the fox kit. Fox was injured only few hours ago. And still I had to hold the baby in my arms to be able to touch and feel the injuries. They were all hidden under her SUMMER fur, so no photos show them. Fox in the picture is in her FLUFFY WINTER FUR. So your theory ,,myslivci's dogs did not do it, because no scars are visible" is very naive, as fluffy fur could hide EVERYTHIG.

So again, better not comment, because you know nothing about myslivci

Location: red fox is native to North America, whole Europe, whole Asia, north Africa and it was introduced to Australia
Size: 100 cm long body + 45 cm long tail, 40 cm high weight: 12 kg

Interesting facts: red fox can hide its food to find it later | usually five cubs are born blind and helpless in the burrow | foxes have many colour variations: usually – ginger-red, but also black or silver, Unfortunately, red fox is kept by fur farms and some ----- torture them just to gain their fur. Red foxes are also hunted by so called ,,sportmen“ | red foxes suffer from rabies | red fox is considered to be vermit | red foxes produce pretty weird sounds XD | foxes in the wild live only some 4 years, but they can reach 12 years in captivity

I loved that book and also it funny happy end!

i dont understand how such a terrible person did this, hunting is truly cruel < and i dont know how these hunters can just throw away a life, like see the light in the animals eyes just leave the creature in just a matter of seconds... i feel like it would be ok to hunt if they were poor and needed to hunt for their food, but when it is just for fun then i hope that these people will have a terrible life.

Awesome and lovely fox. And you're an incredible person. I'm happy that the world is covered of love: people loves the love and everybody should feel like that. For example, the hunters.
I had to fav this photo...^^ I wish I could pet her. Although she doesn't have an eye, I'm sure she's very happy in this place now.

People around my area use foxes and other small animals to train their hunting dogs Its heartbreaking. Especially when they use defenceless cubs that don't have a chance. Nothings ever done about it though

I'm glad he has a good life now!

Lovely photo too! I love foxes. They're beautiful animals.

Regardless of how you feel about hunting or what happened to this particular fox, I think that we can all agree that pulling out an animal's teeth just so it can be used as a training device is ludicrously inhumane.

Hunting is a way of life that is acceptable. Many animals do it just as we humans do it. Though I may not hunt (how could I ever bring myself to kill an animal??) I am not opposed to it for necessity. But hunting for sport is gruesome to me. And any hunter who may or may not have done that to a poor little fox is not someone to be defended.

Chochomaru [2011-06-03 07:31:29 +0000 UTC]

There are stupid hunters indeed. There are many hunters who take advantage of a gun and wrongly hunt animals.

But there are good hunters too.
Hunting is part of who we are, we wouldn't be omnivores without the ability to hunt and consume meat. We were born this way and really nothing can change that.

Hunting can be a benefit as well, it can keep populations under control and in affect, keep animal disease under control. When it is done correctly that is, and hunting indeed can be done wrongly, I'm not trying to say its perfect.
But hunting a single animal to feed your family, using every bit of meat, using the muscle for twine, using the bones for art or something more, and using the pelt for clothing is tradition. It is how we have survived up until this point.

What sickens me are those who hunt for sport. There is no such thing. Hunting is not just a game, it is a sacrifice. A sacrifice to survive.

As for the experts thing, I don't believe experts that easily anymore. Experts told me grizzly bears don't cross the road. Therefore we had to shut off many roads to huckle berry patches that kept my small community alive. Many local businesses died because of this reason and I assure you roads did not stop the grizzly bears from getting into our trash cans.
Many environmental 'experts' are blind. They either aren't in the situation to see what's truly going on, or they're too blinded by love for the animal that they lose sympathy in their own kind.
Not saying these experts are wrong, but there would be more scars on the fox's face. It looks like an eye disease to me, and the notch in his ear is probably from a fight among another fox. My cat has the same type of notch.
The training of their dogs is a high possibility as well.
But poachers are just as bad. And we don't call poachers hunters, so why give hunters a bad name by attaching them to this?
I'd consider them poachers as well if they're responsible for this.
