Description Red fox (vulpes vulpes, liska obecna) from Pasíčka, station for animals, who are handicaped or who simply can not survive in the wild; Czech republic

NEWEST PHOTO -----> ADORABLE BABY WOLVES!

Story of the photo: this fox has only one eye. It was found in the forest. Expersts say that some myslivci probably used this fox to train their dogs, although it is illegal. One-eyed fox fortunately has a nice home and lovely care now... It lives in a big cage with two other saved red foxes, they have some grass and tree trunks there, comfortable looking boxes to hide and very tasty looking meat. When I saw them, fur of all three foxes was literally shining and foxes seemed very relaxed. I was very satisfied when I saw their living conditions. I bet they have nice lives now

EDIT: I am NOT the one who blame the myslivci! EXPERTS from the station say that. The fox has also NO teeth and there are probably more indications, that myslivci did this to the fox. But stop flaming me for just publishing the opinion of the experts also, people, who think they can surely know "how it really happened" are arrogant - it is so stupid that they think they know everything just through looking at the photo. Experts know this fox in person, they saved her and treat her - they simply DO KNOW BETTER. Deal with that.

EDIT NO.2: HONESTLY, PEOPLE - SPEAKING ABOUT SOMETHING YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT MAKES YOU LOOK A BIT STUPID SITTING IN USA, CANADA, FINLAND OR AUSTRALIA, YOU CAN HARDLY KNOW, WHO MYSLIVCI ARE. SO BETTER NOT SPEAK ABOUT THEM. COMMENTING ABOUT SOMETHING YOU DO NOT KNOW IS A BIT EMBARRASING FOR YOU

about ,,IT WAS NOT INJURED BY DOGS, AS NO INJURIES ARE VISIBLE" - I saw a baby fox few days ago, who was brought by myslivci THEMSELVES, and they THEMSELVES said that their dog hunted and injured the fox kit. Fox was injured only few hours ago. And still I had to hold the baby in my arms to be able to touch and feel the injuries. They were all hidden under her SUMMER fur, so no photos show them. Fox in the picture is in her FLUFFY WINTER FUR. So your theory ,,myslivci's dogs did not do it, because no scars are visible" is very naive, as fluffy fur could hide EVERYTHIG.

So again, better not comment, because you know nothing about myslivci

INFO ABOUT THE ANIMAL:

Name: Red fox (vulpes vulpes)
Location: red fox is native to North America, whole Europe, whole Asia, north Africa and it was introduced to Australia
Size: 100 cm long body + 45 cm long tail, 40 cm high weight: 12 kg
Diet: red foxes are omnivorous and are highly opportunistic, so they eat almost everything from small insects to cranes. Red foxes hunt insects, worms, fish, birds, mice, rabbits, crayfish, baby deers. But they eat also fruit (apples, blackberries...) and plants.
Conservation status: Least Concern (the most common carnivora)
Interesting facts: red fox can hide its food to find it later | usually five cubs are born blind and helpless in the burrow | foxes have many colour variations: usually – ginger-red, but also black or silver, Unfortunately, red fox is kept by fur farms and some ----- torture them just to gain their fur. Red foxes are also hunted by so called ,,sportmen“ | red foxes suffer from rabies | red fox is considered to be vermit | red foxes produce pretty weird sounds XD | foxes in the wild live only some 4 years, but they can reach 12 years in captivity
Enemies: golden eagles, gray wolves, cougars, lynxes, coyotes, badgers, wolverines
Legend: foxes play important role in many myths and legend. Due their inteligence, they have become symbol of slyness and cunning. They are also very popular animals, who have role in many fairy tales. In the Czech republic, author Rudolf Tesnohlidek wrote very famous book about very clever hand-rised vixen called Bystrouska. I loved that book and also it funny happy end!

first of all if you want to make a statement.. atleast try not to use chat speak or caps lock.. it realy doesnt help other people to take you seriously

if the fox was realy used for the purpose of training hunting dogs, thats truely horrible, but that doesnt mean you can childishly insult all hunters around and thats exactly what the poster/owner of this picture does, its clearly posted there wheneither she claims she didnt say it or not, she wrote it there. and a missing eye and teeth doesnt refer to a hunters job at all wich is what she claims it does.. it could have easily been an injury from a fight, a fall or attack from a larger predator..

as for so namedly "nagging" the photographer, I suggest you ask your teachers what is the diffrence between "nagging" someone or giving a "view" or "opinion" on something, just saying since you dont seem to know the diffrence..

(ps: dont be such a coward and block people before reply, it makes you look even more childish than the capslock did)

i didnt block you for one thing,(i have no clue how truthfully ) and also the photagrapher blocked all people who seemed to be "pushing" their opinions at her withougth even thinking about what they were saying from re-posting on the page, so it had nothing to do with me so dont call me a freaking coward, if i blocked you then you would not be able to talk to me at all so dont call me stupid for you not realizing you were blocked form the page, not me. and plus i cap those words for emphasis on the things you should think about, which you apparently did not pay attention to. also i do know the dang diference between nagging and exspressing an opinion. and as i said the photagrapher only gaev info of what she was told, it did not exspress her opinion and she did not personaly stiek aout and blame all hunters, dont judge the artist for what OTHER people commented. and please figure out the dif between being page-blocked and user-blocked, it realy makes you look retarded if you call someone a coward for blocking you when you would not even be able to speak to them at all if you were actualy blocked, thank you

you did block me becouse the proof is right there infront of my nose unlike the rest of this hunter theory matter..
so yeah, I have my right to call you a coward for running from conversation, and I dont recon calling you stupid but to simply ask about the diffrence between "flaming" or ones "opnion" and after reading this post I wonder if you're talking about yourself becouse you dont seem to understand anything at all.. I'm guessing you're 13 or 14.. seeing from you rude and childish attitude;;

with that, I'm done talking to you untill you've actualy finished school and are able to live on your own.
have a nice day.

as beautiful as this creature is,let not hate all hunters ok...I myself am a hunter and I take only what I need to feed my family. Never would I abuse an animal....now for those folks that are ready to judge me before hearing me out....take a good look at the burger, chicken drumstick, pork chop or turkey....go to a slaughter house and really look at the condition of those poor creatures there...it WILL BREAK YOUR HEART!!! Cows, goats, sheep and chickens, crammed into tiny pens and cages where they have no room to turn around or breath.....many collapse from lack of food and water....they walk on their feces and urine....a wild animal has NEVER seen that abuse and therfore I will continue to feed my family sound meat they way my ancestors used to eat....God didn't put animals on this earth to be abused the way they are in mass factories so please....I just ask PLEASE....don't look at all hunters the same because we aren't all the same....with that being said....much love to you all and many blessings....

but I do not hate hunters in general and picture does not say anything about hunters hate in general

I think that if people kill animals to eat their meat, it is ok... I also accept population control hunting. I am not a fanatican

now you are a well spoken hunter! i believe if your gonna hunt do it for the food and use the entire animal. unlike some deer hunters who hunt for the antlers (now thats sick) the meat i buy from my local store was all free range <3 (im a member a peta but i cant help eating them veggies are for my bunny) can i ask what you do with the hide of the animals you hunt?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

FyreFeather In reply to BunnyStark [2011-06-03 03:21:58 +0000 UTC]

The hides are used by relatives, friends, myself. I hunt deer and turkey and the occasional pheasant. I NEVER take more than me and my family will use in a season. That's ONE deer,NOT two and 2 turkeys or pheasants. I don't max out my bag limit. EVER.I fish as well. All is used. Feathers are either used by myself,my son or donated to a school where children can use them and learn from them. My child has learned to be compassionate towards animals and he completely understands that it's not wise or honorable to be greedy, wasteful and bloodthirsty. That is not the way I was taught and that is not the way my child was taught and I will teach my future children to have compassion, respect and honor towards ALL living things.........Blessings and Love

just because it has one eye you automatically assume it's the fault of hunters? Do you even know how many animals out there have one eye? They fight eachother, they run into twigs, hunter's aren't the sole cause of an animal loosing an eye.

*facepalm* read it again. Then learn something about hunters in my country. Then try to consider, that experts from the station are able to recognize the type of injury.

and other animal would hardly took away teeth of this fox.

When they have no teeth that's pretty much guaranteed that a hunter was responsible.

Because they take out their teeth so their dogs can train on them without being injured. And if it was a disease there would likely be a lot more symptoms and I'm sure they give all their animals blood tests.

I am a hunter, but this is cruel. You don't use live animals to train dogs, you use skins or scented rags. In fact, unless the foxes are killing chickens or something similar then I see no reason to hunt them. It's one thing if you kill for food and make use of fur or defending your livestock, but it's a completely different thing to hunt for trophies or sport. The latter is wrong, unnatural even. I respect nature and I thank you guys for saving the fox. Animal cruelty is despicable.

While I support population-control hunting... I do NOT support in anyway the use of any animal as live baits to train hunting dogs. It is sick, low, and beyond humane, and those responsible should be hanged for making any animal suffer.

This poor fox has obviously had it rough, its great he is in a safe place now.

*Sigh* It makes me sad to see how cruel people can be to animals. I used to volunteer a vet clinic, mostly doing grunt work in the kennel. There was a dog their named Gimpy (he is a kind of bull terrier), who was being kept at the bet clinic. Apparently, he was an ex-fighting dog. One day a man dressed in all black came in carrying Gimpy, who was all bitten up, dropped him on the floor, and walked out. When I first heard he was a fighting dog, I was kind of nervous to meet him. However, he turned out the be one of the sweetest dogs I have ever met (He was named Gimpy by the owners of the clinic, because of limp he had one of his hind legs). I would never see him as a fighting dog. Luckily, after a year or so, a nice couple adopted him. I hear he loves hogging the bed . Truth is though, I kind of miss him.
