This kinda reminds me of an episode of "Power Rangers Samurai" where the team was being overwhelmed by enemies and the red ranger grabbed one of his teammates' swords, armed it with an electric power-disc, armed his own with the disc used in his fire-slashes, and used both to totally annihilate the enemies swarming them.
