Hey everyone, today I decided to take a break from the normal and do something I don't usually do, paint animals. Owls have always been one of my favorite animals, so I thought that was a good choice. Half way through I realized I could totally make this into a "realistic pokemon" design, a nice two for one, so here it is! Realistic Hoot Hoot ^^ I'll probably do more of these in the future when I get the urge to paint animals. I really do like the texture of the feathers

I did the whole painting with just a simple round brush with a bit of texture on it, just did lots of layering with different colours and strokes to achieve the feather texture! Hope that helps some

I based the design off of the saw whet owl, I thought their cuteness really captured the look I was going for

There's a lot of controversy on this topic, many sources in both the anime and game contradict each other. Almost all the information about hoot hoot goes something along the lines of this though "It always stands on one foot. It changes feet so fast, the movement can rarely be seen." Which means it must have another foot it can change too.

Sounds ridiculous changing feet that fast xD but yes, the game says it switches feet at a rate we can't see which means two feet. Probably an excuse not to animate the moving feet.

I'd reccommend showing it standing on a very thick set hand rail next to a guy getting his picture taking if you think you can do it in a forest region or maybe with it standing on or near a car looking in at the driver.. But yeah, otherwise it might be kind of hard to give the impression of proper size.

Cute! Reminds me of a burrowing owl that took a liking to us at a bird sanctuary/park. Little guy refused to do his display for his handler as he was too busy trying to get a good look at us lol.

It was, he flew away from his handler and sat on the railings in front of us the naughty little thing. :3 Then he was tilting his head around like 'what are these creatures?' XD
