I love this piece, but...
Arrows?
I mean, this point was deliberately obfuscated by Toby Fox, but Chara was probably from our time (i.e., 201X). The story did use the word "village", which somewhat implies medieval, but there's plenty of evidence suggesting otherwise. A simple one is the fact that Asriel had a video camera to videotape Chara with (or at least the audio). And there's a really explicit one when going through New Home during the Genocide run. Interestingly, this also means that Frisk is from the distant-ish future.
So shotguns? Farming equipment? But probably not arrows.
...Though arrows are a lot cooler for this kind of art.

Hmm, well, if it's 201X... maybe there happened to have been a LARP group nearby, and then they attacked Asriel "with everything they had". Oddly enough, this might not actually be too far-fetched. If you're able to kill a monster using an empty gun, then LARP arrows could probably do the trick.
Ooh, new headcanon:
As far as Chara could remember, they were always fascinated with medieval warfare. And knives.
Then they later stumbled across the village/town/whatever's local LARP group, and pleaded to join.
"No, Chara. LARPing is for grownups, like us."
Filled with anguish and fury, Chara swore against humanity, and ran off to Mt. Ebott.
There they met Asriel. Realizing that they technically didn't swear against monsters, Chara accepted him.
And this was just Chara's first step towards the ultimate LARP session the world has ever seen.
