Description
...to the same question. The Blacker and Vitale fratelli share (at least in the beginning) a similar remit, however their approaches to tackling that are somewhat different. Odile carries more specialist gear with her, which makes her better prepared, but she pays for it by needing to travel heavier and at greater risk of detection. Monty takes a much more "make do and improvise" attitude so, a pistol and some lockpicks aside, tends to avoid equipment not available off the shelf to the general public, or that may look suspicious in a baggage search.
I can guarantee you that subgun has been... acquired... somewhere along the way.
To be honest, this was mostly an excuse to draw Monty in a cold weather version of her burglarising kit and channelling her French side. Seemed like a bit of fun to throw Odile in as well for some contrast between how the two fratelli go about their business. Brought to you (at least for Monty's component), but the theme from Where Eagles Dare -->Β www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dh7S7Vβ¦
Monty and Odile are fancharacters, operating in the Gunslinger Girl universe, which is (c) Yu Aida.

Surprised to see Monty with a Sten instead of a Lancaster.

TBH, if I'd been thinking harder at the time it probably would have been a Stirling.

Depends on the period of the war.Β Short Sterlings had been pretty much relegated to minor roles, such as towing Hannibal gliders over Europe.Β As I remember my readings.

She might take umbrage to being called "cute"...
But yeah, of the characters I run Monty (wearing the flat cap), along with her partner, Jethro, is probably my favourite.
Shamless plug: there's more of her here too --->Β wraith11.deviantart.com/gallerβ¦

A Sten MK II with silencer? Odd choice but it is a sturdy weapon.
Like the Styre TMP better though.

The TMP is probably the more sensible/functional choice. However, Monty doesn't a submachine gun with her, so she uses whatever she can find along the way... and she has this uncanny ability to find old, slightly quirky, stuff.

Eh, she's got her PPK (7.65mm) to cover that front... channelling her 60's spy roots.

Excellent shading as always, and I love the attention to detail that's gone into their equipment (both their outfits as well as their weaponry).

Cheers mate. Yeah, I had a lot of fun (read: certain amount of hair pulling, particularly on the guns), doing the details. That said, I'm particularly happy with how the details turned out, especially the material differences between their outfits and the weapons... especially as the majority of everything is either black or dark grey.

Always love seeing your work... it's interesting how well your style lends itself to highlighting the differences between these two. Love it! And for once, Odile doesn't look COMPLETELY lost... only slightly.

It was certainly fun working with the different materials/equipment/attitudes. Plus, well... "slightly lost" and "Monty" seem to be my two default female facial expressions.
As to the slightly lost bit, well... sneaking and more cyborg-ish things, those Odile can do.

I actually loathe chasing details, particularly on guns/when I have to reference something, but it's worth it for the end result.

I'm not sure it's just her gear that puts Odile at greater risk of attention...
Then again, as a cyborg, I guess her chest is part of her "gear". *ducks chair*
Seriously, awesome to see the two together.

They're fun to contrast.
And, yes, I imagine Florentino considers Odile's chest as a vital part of her "gear".

I'm sure Odile has regretted a few occasions she's a bit over specialized (read over weight/over noisy/over loaded). Β Monty looks rather lethal with that Stengun! Β It must have taken a bit of doing to get the silencer to fit, if I remember right they only had about a 4 inch (102 mm) barrel. Β I'd much prefer to pick things up after someone else "misplaced" it than carry something I can't get ammo for quickly.

Hey mate, long time no see. How goes on your end?
Well, story wise, Odile hasn't had a chance to test herself in-role as of yet (and, frankly, whether she ever will in tenuous), but it may come back to bit her in the behind, yes... that said, it may well get her out of a jam as well.
As to the Sten; the one Monty is using is a Sten Mk.IIs, so it came with the suppressor from the factory. I believe it was put together at the request of the British Special Operations Executive for their incursions into occupied Europe... and yeah: I'll admit, Monty's approach is my preference as well (plus, to be honest, I like the idea that she's capable of making up the equipment shortfall by being good at her job).
