Hi guys! This is a new set of 12 artworks I did for the new Star Wars Essential Reader's Companion. Although the dateline for this book was a lot tighter it nevertheless was an enjoyable and rewarding experience.As with the last book I will be posting them in the order of sequence as it appears in the Reader's Companion. Enjoy!
A scene from the ever popular Thrawn Trilogy. I believe this is from the 1st book, Heir To The Empire. Chewie and Ralrra take Leia to safety after an attempted assassination on her life by Noghri commandos sent by Grand Admiral Thrawn.
Trying to depict wookiees climbing and hanging from giant tree branches was really tricky but I think I managed to pull it off. Turned out better than expected.

This scene was amazing in that book. It informed of what Kashyyk was like, and I was super disappointed when it showed up in the prequels and was rather lame. Your painting is wonderful!

I read this book it was aamzzinnnggg. Chewie trying so hard to keep her safe, but unable to outthink thrawn. Good thing the assassins had a reason to leave her alive. Kinda a desus ex machina to have them realize she's vader's daughter, but hey whatever works. I really like how you light things, and how you make the background detailed but with more muted colors so it doesn't detract from the focus.

You really did pull it off! I also love Leia's portrait, the expression is perfect, while keeping her exact look. I also love the tall canvas size and composition, the tree branch shapes, the bark, the Wookiee dwellings, along with the fire giving focus and contrast on Chewie and Leia.

I remember reading about this scene in the novel. This is the third etched representation I know of the scene and the best so far. The first representation is a color one in the French comics book βlβhΓ©ritier de lβempireβ, volume 3, drawingboard 15 by Olivier Vatine and Fred Blanchard. The second representation is a black and white one in the book βHeir to the Empire sourcebookβ by Bill Slavicsek. The your one is the best.
