Description

Tagalong Tex is (not Applejack) a big brother pony equipped with strength magic. Like other big brother and big sister ponies, he’s unusually large, having descended from a long line of Clydesdale-like miniature horses with a proud history of globetrotting for the sake of finding and helping those in need. He’s an implant into Paradise Estates, having been born and raised in the Wild Whinny West. The major difference between he and his gal pals is that he takes Starwish’s concerns about the witches a smidge more seriously.

The Wild Whinny West (”three dubbya” as he says it) isn’t an easy place to live. Only the toughest of equines thrive in that gritty desert among the predatory animals like bobcattle and ratty-snakes. Because of this, Tex has spent most of his life collecting calluses and building muscle. He’s become a hypermasc survivalist, his immense strength and boundless bravery only being boosted by his gift. His mom, dad, 15 brothers, and 4 sisters are all very proud of him.

Tex has never been afraid of facing tangible foes given he has unchippable hooves, near endless stamina, and an earth shattering kick. That’s why he’s at the estates: his personal mission as a Big Brother is to protect the villagers from the evil, if incompetent, Gloom Witches. But there is one thing he’s afraid of, and that’s letting ponies know his secret. See, Tex has a pretty big feminine side. He loves pink things, baby animals, and dotting his I’s with hearts. He hides Your Tiny Lady dolls under his mattress and knows every song from the jukebox musical Mare-a Mia by heart. He hates that he’s not the perfectly manly brohorse everyone thinks he is. His magical gift is STRENGTH, for crying out loud, he shouldn’t cry when he walks past baby clothes in the market!

Of course this is all nonsense. In time Tex’s friends show him that there’s not only nothing wrong with his gender nonconformity, but his magic isn’t contradictory to his behavior. For one, liking “chick stuff” isn’t weak. And for two, the emotional sensitivity he attempts to hide isn’t weak either. He’s always the first to offer his buds a shoulder to cry on, or even just a non-judgmental ear. His strength doesn’t just account for his beefy haunches, but also his patience and empathy. It just takes some unconditional support to show him this.
